Power bills and everyday customer…

Power bills and everyday customer service totally aside for one moment.

A category 2 hurricate came through on the 9th. I have been without power since the 9th. I have not seen one single truck roll through. FPL rolled through the Gulf Coast from richest to poorest counties, lying about power to "solve" tickets and cook the books to make it look like they're providing an incredible response. Thousand of people remain without power despite their insistent bragging that they restored power to 95% of homes. My power hasn't been on once since the 9th, yet they keep marking my service tickets solved and power on despite there not being one single truck in sight. I have not received a single email from them relating to restoring my power. I have to keep checking by attempting to sign in every few hours, getting stuck in a 2FA loop where it insists I keep inputing email codes again and again, to make sure they're not listing me as "on" yet again as the lights haven't even flickered since the 9th. There is no easy-to-find contact number (as of the 13th), only an online report system and a video telling idiots how to work a breaker box because power's definitely on, you're just too stupid to know it. 🤓

Hurricane response was poor all around this year. Only one small shelter opened and was rendered a biohazard the morning after by a hundred people shitting in two bathrooms in the dark with no running water. No emergency waste bins or even hand sanitizer. You'd think, I mean, you'd really think that after Covid a big bottle of hand sanitizer would be an essential public shelter supply. It was mostly dirty poor, elderly, and homeless people with a tiny handful of overcautious individuals. (Hi, I'm dirty poor.) Just guessing, but they did not have room for even a fifth of the people evacuations were issued for. Escambia is poor. If you issue an evacuation notice with only one small public shelter at the extreme gulf-adjacent south, very few people will go. Where were school gymnasiums? Hospital cafeterias? I've been to both over the years during major hurricanes. But all we have this year is a floor of the Pensacola Bay Center? I've been there before, too, for a weaker storm and it was a better experience: more prepared. Additionally, FEMA hasn't been called in, so no water and mre distribution hubs aside from one or two churches doing the best they can.

It's been so long since the last major hurricane hit us directly that the degradation in natural disaster response and recovery systems from local up through federal in those years is so undeniably stark for Pensacola natives too poor to evacuate. FPL is just one significant part of a failing state full of entities cannibalizing every living soul in it for nickles.

I remember Ivan and what resources were made available. We had a tub of mini tobasco sauces for years we were so flush with clean water and hot mres. I also remember Gulf Power who, despite their occasional bullshit, were excellent at restoring power to the community considering how torn up everything was. You either saw or heard them working, not spiking Tinder and making TikToks about getting paid to do nothing or bitterly remarking how they, too, hate FPL for how it was intentionally hindering recovery--workers who might even be old and local enough to have worked for Gulf Power during major hurricane recovery before.

I would kill for a hot mre entree and little treat right now, but I'm fine. It was only a 2. And it's the beggining of fall, so while miserably hot in the afternoon, it's nice at night with the windows open.

What I want to know is what do people think is going to happen when a category 4 or a 5 rolls through during the height of Pensacola summer and we are left at the mercy of the bloodthirsty monopoly that is FPL because neither the state nor the State give a damn about us?

Get a camping stove for boiling water and heating canned food and prepare for there to be no power for at least a month for anything 3 or higher. If we get a 5, you might as well pack up and move out of FPL's monopolistic jurisdiction because this place is done for. Even if your places survives, no damage, you're done for.

Don't prepare for a hurricane. Prepare for a hurricane with FPL and the state of Florida (who gave us to a 1.4-rated monopoly thar is FPL) natural disaster response.

You know our rates are going to shoot even higher through the roof after this.

worst power suppliers ever

worst power suppliers ever, 4 days after hurricane in a very large neighborhood so youd figure we’d be one of the first people with our power on right? wrong. they dont give a damn about your situation and work slow as shit. got 2 dogs and 7 total people in our house, so we can’t afford to have our power off this long.

If I can give them a zero I would

If I can give them a zero I would. I literally tried to call in and pay my bill, had a payment extension amount that they said was invalid, and I tried to pay online and they told me I couldn’t pay my bill. I wish my area used a different power company. I can’t even pay my bill to avoid being disconnected because the online section and the phone option won’t allow me to that makes zero sense. how am I supposed to pay my bill if none of your systems allow me to?

Outages

The power in my neighborhood has gone out at least six times in the past month. The majority of those times there was no rain, no storms, no nothing, the power just goes out for hours on end. At one point, within 24 hours the power went out three separate times. It’s just ridiculous. It just seems like they’re doing Band-Aid fixes and not actually fixing the root of the problem.

FPL is a joke

FPL is a joke, every other week we have a main line go down to affect 12 houses. How can you not be able to fix this problem. If there was any other way yo have power we would use them.

I will be helpful but your company isn’t !!!

I will be helpful but your company isn’t. This is a disgusting company and I emailed affiliated companies with my thoughts. My sister and I have always paid our bills ON TIME!!I have had automatic payment for four years since we’ve lived in Naples. Your prices for electric are outrageous!!! We are seniors living on an income and it’s impossible to cut down on electric with 100 degree weather. My sister has stage four kidney disease and she shakes with cold all the time; this is partly her illness! Our bill for electric is so high, we have trouble paying it; however, we always pay it on time so, with that being said, why do I get late charges twice when I’m on automatic payment. Recently, you cut off our electric and we thought it was a power cut. Four hours later, a neighbor informed us after sitting in the 102 degrees, that there was no power cut, I am going to call BBB and notify them that, not only are our bills sky high but we get late charges $80 when we have automatic payment. As a consumer, this is outrageous and cruel and I’m not taking it any more

FPL does not provide good service to…

FPL does not provide good service to customers anymore. My Electric Power was shut off for non payment around $400. I called FPL for my power to be restored. However, I got Mr. Louis who was picked up the call, I couldn't understand most of the words he tried to tell me him. It couldn't help me with anything. Therefore, I requested to speak to his supervisor who was Myesha. She told me that she could not do anything for me, so the only thing she knew was to pay the amount as if you needed your power to be restored. I offered her to use my security deposit she refused. I asked her I wanted to pay $200 and gave me a few days to pay the rest and she also refused. I asked her please gave me some options from your side that could work me in order for the power to be restored. She said that she had no options or further explanation. I replied and said " Why are you a supervisor if you can not decide or take any decision on anything towards the company?" She told me to call charity department to help me. I consider that an offence from her side as a supervisor. I concluded that FPL does not provide great customer service anymore or help anyone for whatever situation, they are mostly focused on making money and hired some bad peoples that are not reflected the company 's view and integrity. Myesha, in stand point, was the worst person I had ever heard over the phone that could represent FPL as a supervisor. Thanks!

The rest of the story is that the FPL website and App both stink. Adding another location or setting up auto pay is tedious and repetitive.

I’ve had nothing but issues

I’ve had nothing but issues with implementing my solar assets with net metering and contacting someone about a permit they forgot about me for multiple months even though I kept reaching out consistently I was getting passed around or I got told that someone else is handling it and they never did until I threatened to go to the commission and if you try to call them, have fun trying to figure out their phone menu when it refuses to give you an agent to speak to.

unprofessional behavior

TAbsolute worst customer service experience of my life. I spent over two hours on the phone trying to sort out a double payment, one manual and one automatic, only for them to suspend my account while I was actively still on the call with them.
When I had no choice but to contact my bank to stop one of the duplicate payments they forced through, these scam artists slapped my account onto a cash only restriction as retaliation. They treat customers like dirt, show zero accountability, and act like they own your home. Being stuck with a monopoly utility is a nightmare, but I am documenting every single interaction and escalating this straight to the Florida Public Service Commission. Completely predatory and unprofessional behavior.

I have had 2 power outages in the last week due to thunder and lightning storms. Both times my power was back in less than an hour. And this is not first of outages I have been through and FPL always corrects the issues in swiftest of manners. Thank FPL!!! You do such a great job and i appreciate you all. I also love the automated service, it’s very efficient even when I have made a mistake I can fix it with FPL’s automated service. Five stars from me!!!

DANGEROUS error and poor service - I had to relocate one power pole only…

I had to relocate one power pole only servicing my home and no other home. It was a NIGHTMARE working with FP&L. It took almost a year to get done. During that year, I probably have more than 75 unanswered emails or texts to the primary service planner - incredibly bad customer service. Then, when the final team came in to relocate the wires, they pointed out to me and my electrician that whatever FP&L team disconnected the electric, service, they forgot to disconnect one main service line - which had been buried about 2 feet down running about 20 feet underground - fully charged for about 9 months and exactly where my employees were actively digging with heavy equipment. Very easily, one of my folks could have died had they contacted that line which the Locates team did not know was there and somehow stayed charged for about 10 months. DANGEROUS and very poor service

I have put down a deposit $437 for a house I was renting in Lake Worth, FL. Now I rented the house and they are telling me I lost the deposit because I was late in payments. I don’t owe anything to FPL, even if payments were late they got paid everything I owed, so why now you want to keep my MONEY!!!!, and the sad part is nobody from city government does anything to help the consumers, they are stealing people hard work without anyone stepping up and make them pay for their actions.
It’s like they have a license to do anything they want with people money’s.
VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

I live on Alamanda st Daytona Beach our lights have been out three different times due to rain and thunder. All this in one month. Then you call them they talking about 3 hours before the lights are restored. I’m am sick of this company wish they would bring someone else in to compete with them. They need to fix these raggedy power lines. Properly it’s funny how my neighbors across the street never lose power. Yet Fpl still wants their money. I can’t stand this company.

Everything you would expect from a company with zero competition. Ridiculously high deposits calculated based on the history of prior owners of the property. Late notification or no notification of balance due. Customer service that has absolutely no ability whatsoever to provide any service. Quite frankly everything you would expect from a business with no competition or need to improve their service or their product. Completely disappointed and would love to have an alternative service provider to FPL!

Trying to get past the a.i.

Trying to get past the a.i. answering service is a lesson in futility. Wanna piss yourself off? Call FPL and try to get a human being and even then it's a crap shoot whether or not that person will have a decent enough grasp of the english language or not.

Just what anyone needs
