How we test and rate data removal services

Our team has tested 13 data removal services using the same hands-on process. Two editors run our current tests, each with our own personal data. We buy each service's plan with the most extensive data broker coverage.

We also sign up one to four weeks before formal testing begins, which gives each service time to scan for our info and contact data brokers.

Then, we evaluate each product across five areas:

  • Core features (50%): We record the maximum number of data broker sites each service scans and whether it offers custom removals for sites outside its standard coverage.
  • Editor's score (25%): We use each service ourselves, evaluating security practices, company reputation, and the ease of use of the interface.
  • Extras (10%): We check whether each service also includes privacy reports, dark web monitoring, identity monitoring, and the option for family plans, awarding one point per included feature.
  • Customer service (10%): We evaluate the support options available, especially if there are multiple ways to get in touch, such as live chat, email, and phone.
  • Value (5%): We compare each service's lowest viable price on the plan that actually delivers automated removals.

In each service's star rating summary, "Features" combines Core features and Extras.

We retest every featured service at least once a year. To learn more, read our full data removal testing methodology here.

Star rating summary

Incogni is our top data removal service due to its reliable and intuitive dashboard, comprehensive data broker coverage across plans, and various ways to contact customer support.

Incogni only lost points on value because its starting price is slightly higher than some competitors.

Our experience

We had no complaints with Incogni this time around. The service has come a long way since its launch, adding numerous data broker sites to its arsenal along with custom removals and a standout third-party audit.

The first step to setting up your Incogni account is crucial: signing an authorization form. This legal authorization empowers Incogni to act on your behalf when communicating with data brokers, serving as your data-privacy advocate. Without this form, you'd have to do all the reaching out yourself.

The form might seem alarming, but it's a specialized safeguard, not a surrender of control in this context.

We've previously set up an Incogni account, so we just reactivated our subscription. When you first sign up, you'll have to submit your full name, email address, and home address. You can also add your birthday and up to three email and physical addresses to track.

As of October 14, 2026, our dashboard shows 850 completed requests, 109 in progress, and 959 total sent. Incogni found our info on 411 brokers. Of those, 216 have suppressed our data, 104 are being monitored, and 91 are still in progress.

Incogni data privacy dashboard as of 10/14/2026 (850 completed, 109 in progress, 959 sent, 160 scheduled, 637 hrs 30 min saved)

For more detail, Incogni provides two separate areas with insights: Data Brokers and Requests. These pages show timelines and additional information for each broker Incogni contacted.

Each broker has a Compliance Score, which assesses how quickly and reliably brokers comply with removal requests, and a Severity Score, which reflects the sensitivity of the information a broker holds. You can also view the status of each removal request.

Incogni broker overview tab

There’s not much else to do on your dashboard besides check the status of your requests and update your personal information. If you upgrade to the Unlimited plan, you can also submit as many custom removal requests as you need, with help from human specialists. We tested the Standard plan, so we didn’t try custom removals ourselves.

Verdict: 5/5. Incogni felt easy to use and intuitive, and it provided satisfying updates that made us feel like something was actually getting done. The dashboard was well-organized, and Incogni reliably completed the requests.

Incogni prices and plans

Incogni ranges from $7.99–$45.98/mo. Incogni has three plan tiers: Standard, Unlimited, and Protect. Each tier comes in an individual or family version, and family plans cover up to five people. You can pay monthly or annually, except for Unlimited, which is annual only.

Incogni also sells a separate Concierge service for high-profile users.

Incogni Standard is the basic service, which primarily completes automated removals from 420+ broker sites.

Incogni Unlimited includes the same coverage as the Standard plan, plus custom data removal. It includes unlimited custom removals, with an additional 2,000+ sites covered. This plan is only available as an annual subscription.

Finally, Incogni Protect bundles data removal services with identity theft protection from Coveron (formerly NordProtect). This includes credit monitoring, dark web monitoring, and identity remediation services with identity theft insurance.

Concierge is a full-service plan for high-profile people and their families. It costs $4,999/yr and covers up to five adults. Instead of relying only on automation, a dedicated privacy specialist searches for your info by hand every week, sends custom removal requests, and steps in during emergencies with help from former law enforcement officers.

Concierge also includes up to $1 million in identity theft recovery through Coveron, dark web monitoring, and extras like a VPN and password manager. We haven’t tested Concierge.

Incogni vs. competitors on price

Incogni costs a bit more than some data removal services. Here are the annual starting prices for individuals:

  • Incogni: Starts at $7.99/mo
  • DeleteMe: Starts at $6.97/mo
  • Aura: Starts at $7.00/mo
  • Cloaked: Starts at $9.99/mo

Incogni costs about $1.00/mo more than DeleteMe and Aura, and $2.00/mo less than Cloaked. Every plan covers all 420+ brokers, so you only pay more if you want unlimited custom removals.

Incogni offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can test it out for a month before committing to a subscription.

Verdict: 4/5. Incogni costs slightly more than DeleteMe and Aura, but you get a lot of value from its data broker coverage.

Incogni security features

Incogni delivers on data removal by sending removal requests on your behalf to 420+ data brokers. It also sends follow-ups every 60 to 90 days.

With the Unlimited plan, you can also request unlimited custom removals. You can scrub your data from any site that exposes data profiles, which is great if you're seeking maximum online privacy.

Verdict: 5/5. Incogni provides extensive data broker coverage, plus unlimited custom removals on its Unlimited and Protect plans.

How does Incogni work?

Incogni pinpoints companies most likely to hold your data by using its algorithm to scour the digital landscape and identify brokers likely to hold your data. Once it identifies these companies, Incogni contacts them to initiate the opt-out process.

Incogni relies on these privacy laws:

  • In the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides a solid legal basis for personal data removal.
  • In the U.S., the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) serves a similar purpose.
  • Meanwhile, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) supports Incogni’s data removal efforts in Canada.

Using these laws, Incogni can legally require many brokers to remove your data.

Types of data removed

All you need to do is provide your name, email, and address, and Incogni will use this to identify your personal information that's stored across the web.

The full bundle of your information may include any of the following:

  • Name
  • Birthday
  • Gender
  • Phone number
  • Addresses (both current and former)
  • Associated family members
  • Family members’ ages
  • Health information
  • Financial information, such as your bank or credit card company
  • Social Security number
  • Employment information
  • Education records

Data broker and people-search sites covered

  • # of sites covered: 420+

Incogni sends out data removal requests in your name to data brokers in the following categories:

  • Risk mitigation data: A variety of background, criminal, property, and other data that could potentially pose a risk to individuals or businesses.
  • Recruitment data: Personal information accessible by recruiters, which may include employment history, skills, and contacts.
  • People search data: Free information on people, often including addresses, phone numbers, and other personal details.
  • Financial information: Financial data such as credit scores, loan information, or other financial standings.
  • Marketing data: Personal information like your browsing habits, past purchases, and interests used by marketing agencies to target individuals for advertising.
  • Health information: Personal health data may encompass medical history, insurance information, or other health-related details.

Just remember that this number can fluctuate, as Incogni constantly adds and removes sites from its mailing list. You can see the full list of data brokers Incogni covers on its blog.

Reports

Incogni sends progress reports every four weeks to your email. It shares how many recurring removals have been scheduled to continuously keep your data off broker lists.

Incogni last four weeks at a glance report (167 recurring removals scheduled, 6 new data brokers added to its coverage)

You'll also find details on the total requests sent, in-progress requests, and total time saved.

Recurring and custom removals

Incogni follows up with every data removal request it makes after 60 to 90 days, even if the request is successful. Incogni sends recurring removal requests every 60 days to public data brokers and every 90 days to private data brokers.

Incogni will stop following up with a company only if it marks your file as suppressed, meaning the broker has agreed never to host your data on its site again.

Status of Incogni removal of data from True Blue Analytics

If you want to submit custom removal requests, choose the Unlimited or Protect plan. Once you upgrade to Unlimited, you can submit an unlimited number of custom removal requests.

These custom removal requests can cover sites outside data brokers and people search sites, which a privacy specialist must remove manually. This includes business and company information sites, legal resources, and some court record sites.

Bonus features

Incogni has plans focused entirely on data removal, but now you can bundle Incogni with Coveron. The Incogni Protect plan includes:

  • Dark web monitoring with real-time alerts
  • Credit monitoring from TransUnion
  • Credit freeze assistance
  • Up to $1 million in identity theft insurance
  • Up to $50,000 in the event of cyber extortion

Does Incogni keep your data safe?

Incogni shares your personal information only to process a data removal request and provide its services. This includes customer support service providers, payment service providers, and storage and infrastructure providers.

However, Incogni doesn't sell your data for profit, and it's not affiliated with any data brokers. We also like that the privacy policy states all data is completely deleted within 12 months of stopping service or when you request it (and the company is legally required to delete it).

Also, your data isn’t shared unless legally required: “Finally, we may also share your personal information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.”

Remember, when we’re talking about the legality of sharing data, it’s likely this won’t affect the average person. In fact, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) are two laws intended to protect your information.

Incogni obtained a third-party assurance report from Deloitte, published in August 2025.[1] Deloitte verified the following Incogni claims:

  • Incogni provides removals for 420+ brokers
  • Incogni obtains confirmation from 420+ brokers
  • Incogni sends removal requests every 60 days for public data brokers and every 90 days for private data brokers
  • Incogni doesn't sell your data (confirmed for 2024)
  • Incogni processed more than 245 million removal requests

Incogni has zero affiliation with data brokers, and it protects databases containing Incogni's user data with AES-256-GCM encryption, a strong industry standard. Plus, you can also secure your account with an authenticator app for two-factor authentication.

Incogni also has a knowledge base with articles on getting started, how Incogni works, subscriptions and billing, and more. We appreciate that you can cancel your subscription directly in your portal, so you don't have to contact customer support.

Incogni user reviews

  • Apple App Store rating: 4.2/5
  • Google Play Store rating: 3.5/5
  • Trustpilot rating: 4.3/5
Ratings as of 10/14/2026.

Previously, Incogni's mobile app had middling reviews. Reviewers said the app lacked the reports and details you can view on the web and that it didn't load, but Incogni has since addressed the app-freezing issue.

On the other hand, Incogni has solid ratings from Trustpilot reviewers. Reviews praise the service for its effectiveness and ease of use, noting fewer spam calls after using Incogni.

Top alternatives

While Incogni offers a comprehensive approach to personal data removal, several alternative data removal services offer unique features.

Aura offers an all-in-one digital security and privacy package that includes identity theft protection services. DeleteMe includes a few extras like email, phone, and card masking.

Incogni FAQs

Is Incogni really worth it?

Yes, Incogni is worth using. Incogni sends out recurring requests to ensure data brokers comply and saves you hours of time from having to do this yourself.

Keeping your personal info off the internet is an excellent first step toward protecting yourself from identity theft, scammers, and even spammers. And Incogni fully automates the entire process so you don't have to worry about it.

How do I cancel my Incogni subscription?

You can cancel your Incogni subscription and stop it from renewing automatically in your account portal. Just log in, navigate to subscription and billing under your profile, then click manage next to your plan name. From there, you'll receive the option to cancel your subscription.

If you cancel within the first 30 days, you're eligible for a full refund under Incogni's money-back guarantee.

Does Incogni stop spam emails?

Incogni can reduce spam emails by removing your email address from data broker databases. Marketers buy contact details from these brokers, so fewer listings usually means less spam over time. It won’t stop spam from lists you’re already on outside of data brokers.

Does Incogni offer a free trial or free scan?

Incogni doesn't offer a free trial, but it does provide a free data exposure scan that anyone can run without creating an account. The scan shows you how many data broker sites likely hold your personal information, giving you a sense of your digital footprint before you commit to a paid plan.

Does Incogni stop spam calls?

Incogni can reduce spam calls, but it won’t stop them completely. It removes your phone number from data broker lists that marketers buy from.

Calls may continue for a while if your number is already on older lists or comes from sources outside data brokers. Incogni doesn’t block calls on your phone.
