Welcome to Earth and Verse!

Hi! I’m Alix Klingenberg; author of 4 poetry collections, professional photographer, and Earth-centered spiritual director. Welcome to Earth & Verse, where poetry, visual art, and community meet the rhythms of the natural world.

Through essays, poems, photography, workshops, and visual storytelling, I write about creativity as both an artistic discipline and a spiritual practice.

This publication and community is for new and seasoned creatives alike. If you’re carrying unfinished poems, half-started manuscripts, too many ideas and not enough time, but the quiet suspicion that you might have a book (or two) in you if you could just get from concept to completion, Earth & Verse is the place where I give you real strategies and practices to you to get out of your own way, and into the flow of your own creative projects.

“Every time I read Alix’s words, I want to head straight outside and touch some moss.” - Lisa Jenson of 100 Poems

At this point in my career, what I want most is to write better poems, make beautiful books, remain present to my family and community, and continue building spaces where other people feel more capable of doing the same.

If that resonates with you, I’d love to welcome you into Earth & Verse.

  • Free subscribers get regular letters with poetry, creative prompts, and existential thoughts.

  • Paid subscribers gain membership to the Live Writing Circles, early-bird pricing to retreats and classes, and the membership library, where the prompts and practices go deeper.

  • Founding members can schedule a 1-1 call with me once a year to discuss anything about your creative life; goals, blocks, publication ideas, or just a casual conversation where I listen and offer my expertise where you need it.

Earth & Verse grows slowly through word of mouth, conversations between friends, and the generosity of those who share my work to their networks. Every share is deeply appreciated.

The Writing Community

I’ve been leading writing circles for over a decade because writing with other people is different than writing alone; it brings an energy that’s impossible to find by yourself in a room.

The magic of these sessions is harder to describe. It’s something I’ve learned to trust will happen when a group of poets and writers gather together with the sole intention of creating new work.

I lead workshops in the style that works best for me to write: fast, communal, and full of positive feedback. While my workshops are not critique-focused, I often bring little elements of craft to each session. They are about the act of creation itself, and about the connections that can form in a room full of open, engaged writers.

Alix’s gentle writing will move you and inspire you. It will unearth something in you. Let yourself be unearthed. - Annette Skye of Life Speaks

Love this endorsement from Rebecca Cook, who is an incredible poet herself.
