Have to write? Have to make a living? You’ve come to the right place.

The old world I worked in for decades — thriving tv channels, movie theaters filled with movie lovers, hundreds of production companies, studios and networks — is gone. Dead.

Writers need to find a new way to make a living.

None of us have ANY idea how to do that.

This Substack is the ongoing chronicle of one smart, hardworking writer trying to figure out how to make a living doing what he loves: Writing.

I’m writing a web series. I’m going to monetize this Substack (eventually). I’m going to explore all of the avenues, talk with other “pioneers” in this new world, share my failures and the occasional success.

And I use AI to help me. NEVER to write for me. But to help me understand my audience, clarify my work, act as a partner in my “virtual writers’ room,” keep track of my hundreds of notes, drafts and documents. Stay tuned — I’ll show you how.

You’ll get two posts a week, notes every day. I’ll show my work and open myself up to dissection and discussion.

If you’re a writer or creative struggling to find a way to survive in the 21st Century, I’ll give you a home here. We’ll talk about how we’re approaching the problem, the work we’re doing, and how we can all find a place to make a living.

Subscribe. I’d love to figure this out with you.
