When the moment called for action, SSgt. Justin Boisvert didn’t hesitate. On his way to work at Hurlburt Field, Boisvert witnessed a truck leave the road and crash into a tree after the driver suffered a medical emergency. He immediately pulled over, ran toward the smoking vehicle, freed the injured driver and provided first aid until emergency responders arrived. Boisvert credits his military first aid and CPR training with helping him stay calm and prepared when seconds mattered. “All the training I have completed throughout my military career helped me remain calm in moments of chaos.” His service didn’t stop when first responders arrived. SSgt. Boisvert stayed in contact with the driver and his family in the days that followed, turning a chance encounter into a lasting friendship. It’s a powerful reminder that the skills and mindset built through the Air Force Reserve can make an impact far beyond the flight line.

Your ambition doesn't have to fit into one uniform. Build your civilian career. Pursue your education. Chase the goals you've set for yourself and serve your country while you're doing it. The Air Force Reserve offers part-time service options that let you bring experience from your civilian life into the mission, then take military leadership, discipline and skills back into everything you do. You don't have to choose between the life you're building and something bigger than yourself. Build both. That's the Reserve Advantage. As a SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) Specialist, you’ll master the skills needed to survive and operate in some of the world’s toughest environments, from wilderness and water survival to evasion and resistance. Then you’ll turn that expertise into training, equipping Reserve Airmen and other high-risk personnel with the skills and confidence they need to survive isolation and return safely. It takes more than physical strength. SERE Specialists learn to think under pressure, adapt when conditions change and prepare others to do the same when the stakes are real. Wherever the mission goes, your expertise helps Reservists make it home. Learn More: http://spr.ly/6043BGt8Pf

You don't rise to the mission. You train for it. Reserve Airmen regularly participate in Combat Arms training that’s designed to sharpen the skills they'll rely on when the stakes are high. It's part of the warrior culture behind the Air Force Reserve: train as we fight, hold the standard and stay ready to deliver. That's how Reserve Airmen turn preparation into an operational advantage.

-
Why the Air Force Reserve? Because serving your country shouldn't mean putting the rest of your ambition on hold. Build a civilian career. Pursue your education. Grow your skills. And serve in a force that's ready when the mission calls. You bring what you learn in the civilian world to the mission, and take the discipline, leadership and experience of the Air Force back into everything you do. Two worlds. One stronger Airman.

Global reach starts on the ground. Air Transportation specialists in the Air Force Reserve manage the movement of passengers and cargo through the military airlift system, helping ensure missions have the people and resources they need to move forward. It’s precision, logistics and readiness working together to put American capability where it’s needed. That work doesn’t always make headlines, but it directly shapes mission success around the world and delivers real operational impact where it matters most.

Readiness isn’t measured by how close you are to operational requirements. It’s measured by how quickly you can respond and how prepared you are when the call comes. The 911th Airlift Wing embodies that standard every day. From Pittsburgh Air Reserve Station, its Reserve Airmen deliver mission-ready C-17 airlift, aeromedical evacuation and agile combat support that enable the rapid movement of people, equipment and critical capabilities wherever they are needed around the world. This isn’t just about flying aircraft. It’s about precision planning, disciplined execution, and the experience of operating in complex, time-sensitive environments where there is no margin for error. When America needs to move fast, far and with purpose, the 911th is already ready.

-
Serving in the Air Force Reserve is more than building a career. It's building the kind of confidence that comes from knowing you can perform when your country needs you. Along the way, you'll gain healthcare benefits, education opportunities, leadership experience and the flexibility to pursue your civilian career or your educational goals while serving something bigger than yourself. Because the greatest return on investment isn't just what you earn. It's who you become.

When wildfires threaten communities, Air Force Reserve aircrews bring critical support from above. In Oregon, C-130H Hercules crews supported efforts to contain the Cow Camp Complex Fire, conducting aerial retardant drops alongside U.S. Forest Service partners. It’s a mission with a direct impact on the communities below.
