As you may have noticed, I missed the July update due to the Kickstarter. It called for far more admin work than I expected, and I also wound up getting sick, so . . . I’m catching up now.

I want to thank you all for your support this last month! Whether you backed the Kickstarter campaign or simply shared about it, you helped me reach an unbelievable success. Now, let’s get into the writing update!

My top three writing tasks this month are:
1. Proofread F&N and S&S
2. Prep TWH for publication
3. Finish drafting AOTW6

My debut series. There are 12 books planned for the series, so here are their statuses:

#1, Lake of Glass, #2, Vault of Stone, #3, The Raven’s Cry, & #4, Veil of Mist: Published and continually marketing.

#5, The Wolf’s Howl: I have one more proofread to complete, the cover design to complete, files to upload, and then THW will be completely ready for publication!

#6, OS&E: I started drafting book six in June, but the Kickstarter and some other work I had delayed my progress. I will finish up the draft this month.

#7-#9: Outlined.

#10-#12: On hold. I began outlining these books, but I realized that I need a little more information/time to brainstorm before making final decisions about their plot.

#1, Fire & Night: ARCs have received an incredible return of reviews, and I’m so grateful! This month, I’m going to proofread and format the book with the new chapter headers and scene breaks we unlocked during the Kickstarter.

#2, Sword & Shadow: The copy edits of book two are complete. The ARC is with my street team, but I will be sending out some more ARCs soon to my previous readers.

#3, Relics & Thrones: Book three goes into copy edits this month, which means we’re wrapping up the trilogy. I can hardly believe we’re truly at this point with the series. It’s very surreal. 🥹

For my Paid Subscribers: I am taking a short break to refresh my mind and finish up some tasks, so there won’t be much new for you guys. However, I will still be sending you early looks at the seven illustrations, maps, and short stories we unlocked during the campaign.

Additionally, I am working up a new series of posts to share specially for you. I’m not sure how quickly I’ll be able to roll it out as I wrap up lots of work this final half of the year, but I will keep you updated on what’s coming!

What’s special about the Kickstarter?

The Kickstarter will fund the publication of the trilogy, but that’s just the beginning!

Within the Kickstarter campaign, there are limited edition illustrated covers (paperback and hardcover), as well as limited foiled editions of the trade covers (paperback only). These features will not be available once the Kickstarter ends on July 30 (there will be a limited-time late pledge store, but the prices will be higher).

The hardcovers are planned to be cloth-bound with a rounded spine. I found a short-run printer who will work with me on this high-quality binding. However, it requires that I sell 300 hardcover trilogies in order to achieve this goal. If I don’t reach this goal, I will have to switch to squared spines. (But I have high hopes. 🤗)

Along with these exclusive covers, there is the opportunity to make these books even more stunning on the interior. Some of the stretch goals include: a map collection, chapter headers and scene breaks, illustrated endpapers, and vellum overlays.
(The maps will be included in all editions—trade and illustrated, paperback and hardcover. I am undecided as to whether or not the chapter headers and scene breaks will be limited to the illustrated covers. The endpapers will only be available in the hardcovers. The overlays will be an add-on.)

Then, we have the opportunity for additional merchandise, short stories, and illustrations. As each stretch goal is reached, these pieces will be available as add-ons or, for certain goals, will be automatically added to your rewards.

For example, every tier will receive the digital reward of an eBook with deleted scenes from Fire & Night. However, I have several short stories in mind that I’d like to write for these characters and this world. As each of these short stories is unlocked, it will automatically be added to the eBook that everyone receives. Additionally, with every illustration that is unlocked, it will be added to the eBook as well.
At a certain point, we will have enough short stories to make it a paperback collection that will be available as an add-on, or if you’re a Collector’s Bundle or Artificer’s Bundle backer, you’ll have it automatically added to your rewards.

The Tiers

There are ten tiers, ranging in price from $15 to $600. I worked hard to ensure that every budget could afford to participate in this campaign, while still getting something exciting from it.

Note the early bird prices on the exclusive paperback and hardcover trilogy. These prices are available only for the first 24 hours of the campaign.
There are only two Annotated Trilogy tiers and only three Artificer’s Bundles available.

I can hardly believe I have four published works out in the world, and I am so grateful for all of the support and love VOM has already received!

#5, The Wolf’s Howl: The book is with my copy editor, and we plan to finish it this month.

#6-#12: I’ve been outlining fiercely for the last month, and it has already paid off so much! I’m very excited about the direction of the final books of this series. Currently, I’ve got the outlines for books 6-8 complete.
My outlining method has changed from what I originally planned, but I’ve found that it’s working well for my process. At present, I’m working on chapter overviews for books 9-12 (I’ve completed 9 and 10) before fleshing out those overviews into actual, detailed outlines. Once that’s done, I’ll move on to drafting book 6.

It’s an odd feeling to have my fourth book out there in the wild, but it’s very exciting! This series is just getting started, and I can’t wait for you all to read this one.

#5, TWH/The Creatures of Porthaven 2: My betas finished up last month, and I made my adjustments, now it’s in my editor’s hands. (I’m keeping her busy this year. 😂) We’ll be going through a line/copy edit over the next two months.
This book is one of my favorites yet, so I’m excited to share more soon. 🤭

#6-#12: I’ve officially begun my in-depth outline for book 7 (the conclusion of the Porthaven arc)! I’m planning to write a roughly 50k-word outline detailing a clear overview of the book and its scenes. I used this method as a test for the DeVerre Christmas novella in December, and it worked amazingly, so now I’m going to give it a go with the rest of the books.
My plan is as follows:

Outline Book 8 (FOS) — ~50k words
Outline Book 6 (OP&?) — ~50k words

This month is full of fun and exciting projects. I’m very thankful for a super productive January, so I’ll be able to start working on other tasks this month.

My debut series. There are 12 books planned for the series, so here are their statuses:

#1, Lake of Glass, #2, Vault of Stone, & #3, The Raven’s Cry: Published and continually marketing.

#4, Veil of Mist: I took a break from proofreading in January due to other projects, but I’ll finish the final two proofreads this month. And I’ll begin ARC applications in a couple of weeks. So, if you’re interested, keep your eyes open.

#5, TWH/The Creatures of Porthaven 2: With beta readers through March 15.

#6-#12: While I finish some Warriors & Mages tasks, drafting for AOTW is on hold. But I’ll begin in-depth plotting of the final seven books soon.

The Kickstarter pre-launch for Warriors & Mages is live!

The Kickstarter will begin in mid-’25, and in the meantime, I’m looking to gain 1,000 pre-launch followers to help ensure this project's success. At the moment, we have 130/1,000.

#1, Fire & Night: I’m two-thirds of the way through the “cull” edit of F&N, and I’m hoping to finish that by the end of next week. However, the rest of the book is officially with my editor to begin line/copy edits! I’m so thrilled to be officially starting this process. Professional edits are my favorite part of a project, and prepping W&M for publication has been a long time coming. 🥰

One final note: The limited-release Fire & Night: Serial Edit paperbacks are still on sale. There are only 75 copies left. So, if you like the serial edit and want a collector’s edition on your shelf, make sure you pick it up.
