It’s affirming but also wild to see this idea of “Communities are the new cultural infrastructure” becoming recurrent. I’ve been thinking and writing about this a ton lately and it’s part of a broader macro theory I have that we’re moving away from a culture of optimization to regulation, and observation to participation. Micro communities are the hot location not just because they become the locus of taste but because they’re filling a vacuum for effort and discernible meaning that’s been left from declining institutions all around us. Good read and would be curious to hear what you think the deeper sociological / psychological layer is here!
