This past week, we were shocked to learn that a trans activist with a disturbing history was named one of Brazil’s “women of the year.” Erika Hilton may be a familiar nam to some regular Reduxx readers - he is the Brazilian politician who relentlessly pursued Isabella Cepa for “misgendering him” to the point where Cepa was facing 25 years in prison for “criminal transphobia.”

Cepa ultimately escaped Brazil and was granted asylum in Europe earlier this year. Yes. That’s right. The state prosecution she experienced was considered so severe that she officially became the first person granted political protection on the basis of her opposition to gender ideology.

Needless to say, Cepa was rather confused by the news of Hilton’s “women of the year” honor.

This week, we covered a troubling case out of the University of Brasília, where a 19-year-old female student was actually arrested and held without bail after telling a non-binary male student to leave the women’s restroom.

According to the police report we were provided, the student confronted the man after he entered the women’s washroom, and the situation escalated when he followed her out of the bathroom and continued arguing with her across campus as she sought help from security. He then called the police on her, and she was charged under Brazil’s expanded “racial injury” law — a statute that includes gender identity.

Yes, you read that right: a young woman spent a night in jail and is facing criminal charges for objecting to a man in the women’s restroom.

The case has already sparked chaos on the campus. Women’s-rights advocates have stepped in to support the student while trans activists have staged intimidating protests demanding ALL bathrooms on campus be made “gender-neutral.” One group even vandalized facilities as part of a campaign to “de-binarize” them.

If the story feels familiar, it’s because it is. The University of Brasília has dealt with this before. A similar incident occurred in 2022 after a different non-binary male student chased down a woman who asked him to leave the female restroom. Now, with this latest arrest, tensions over gender ideology and women’s spaces in Brazil are reaching a new boiling point.

We had debated taking the news public for many weeks before we finally did, unsure of if we wanted to face the battle alone so as not to give him the airtime.

In 2019, James Everette Hughes was convicted of raping his daughter, Dagny “Nex” Benedict, when she was nine years old, and sentenced to five years in prison. Hughes is now listed as “female” on the sex offender registry, and has changed his legal name to Chloe Elizabeth.

While we usually go through our stories of the week, today we wanted to get our Substack family up-to-date on a very important announcement Reduxx made yesterday on X.

We’re getting sued! Why, you may ask? Because we called a man… a man.

For some context, on October 15, 2024, Reduxx published an article titled EXCLUSIVE: Award-Winning Trans-Identified Male Author From Taiwan Sues Critics Who Say He’s Not A “Lesbian.”

The article was focused on a Taiwanese-born writer named Li Kotomi. Kotomi, an author, is a trans-identified male currently residing in Japan.

The article reported on Kotomi’s campaign of terror against women’s rights advocates, and how he had filed multiple lawsuits and criminal charges against women who refused to validate his identity as a “woman” and “lesbian.”

As always, our article did not participate in validating Kotomi’s self-declared claim to womanhood. We referred to Kotomi as a man, and used “he/him” pronouns throughout. We also included some of his other aliases - including his birth name.

All of the details we published utilized data that was publicly accessible.

Kotomi is now suing us because of this article.

His argument? That it was defamatory, invasive, and “factually incorrect” to refer to him as a man because he is “legally and socially a female.”

Note that in Japan, truth is NOT a defense against such claims. “Outing” a trans-identified male is often held as illegal, and “misgendering” them can be considered a legally actionable “insult” regardless of the underlying facts.

In addition to hefty monetary damages, Kotomi is seeking to compel a Japanese court to order us to remove the article we published about him.

Though we are not a Japanese entity, Kotomi was able to file against us by aiming his lawsuit at a single Reduxx writer living in Japan. Concerningly, because he did not have all of her details in order to serve her, Kotomi tracked down people he believed to be her associates and locations he believed her to be present. He named unrelated parties in his filing in an effort to effectively “smoke out” our writer. We now have to move for the record to be corrected and the unrelated parties to be redacted because he employed this very sick strategy.

We believe the move was calculated to both advance the suit and intimidate us by raising concerns for our writer’s safety. Perhaps Kotomi believed this pressure would cause us to simply back down and comply.

We won’t be.

We have found a highly experienced lawyer in Tokyo specializing in free speech eager to take on this case, protect our writer, and defend our speech against Kotomi’s frivolous claims.

On Saturday, we put out a call to action on X asking for donations from our readers to help us cover the costs of taking on a legal battle of this scale… and boy did you guys ever pull through! We have raised the money to cover his retainer, and are initiating the process of paying him ASAP.

Once that is completed, we will hopefully be able to release his name and more details on the entire process.

If Kotomi wins, he is demanding approx. $40,000 USD in damages, in addition to other potential penalties. But we have a strong case, and don’t intend to back down any time soon.

We have absolutely no idea what this case is going to cost at this point in time, or how long it could potentially drag out. If you’d like to pitch in to our coffer to help us cover these mounting fees as well as keep Reduxx going in the interim, every penny is appreciated.

This week, Reduxx broke a disturbing exclusive revealing that the Federal Bureau of Prisons had been ordered by a court to provide “gender-affirming treatments,” including laser hair removal and feminizing voice therapy, to an incarcerated man convicted of producing child pornography and sexually abusing his son.

The inmate, born Brian Buckingham and now known as Nani Love Buckinham, argued that the prison system’s refusal to continue his hormone therapy and provide further cosmetic services amounted to cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment, as well as a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A magistrate judge agreed, recommending that the Bureau arrange consultations for the requested procedures, noting they were considered “medically necessary” to treat his “gender dysphoria.”

While the Bureau has filed an objection, the order is likely to be reaffirmed. If Buckingham ultimately receives his requested “gender affirming” cosmetic procedures, it could mark one of the first successful challenges by a transgender inmate to the Trump administration’s executive restrictions on federal prisoners receiving “gender affirming” care while incarcerated.

This week, Reduxx published a disturbing exclusive update out of Washington state after we learned that a violent transgender pedophile had been released from prison.

Jolene Charisma Starr—born Joel Thomas Nichols—was convicted of grotesque crimes including the rape of an 11-year-old girl, the attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl, and the attempted rape and brutal assault of a 24-year-old woman.

Starr served some of his sentence in a women’s prison, and has now been turned loose on the city of Everett after serving 30 years behind bars. He is assessed as Risk Level 3, meaning that he is at an extremely high risk of reoffending.

This week, Reduxx reported on a deeply troubling development in women’s boxing, where Lin Yu-Ting returned to the ring to compete in the women’s division at Taiwan’s National Games.

For those who need a refresher: Lin was one of two biologically male boxers who were allowed to compete at the Paris Olympics last year. The other, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, attracted much more attention due to being more vocal and boasting of his wins against women.

Since Paris, Lin has been absent from international competitions because he has refused to take an unambiguous sex test, but Taiwan’s domestic National Games did not prohibit him from participating.

During the event, he faced 19-year-old Pan Yan-Fei, a young female boxer who was forced to abandon the match less than two minutes in after being pummeled by a series of head blows. His final opponent, Wu Peiyi, threw in the towel after only one round.

As a result, Lin secured gold in the women’s 60KG category, his 6th consecutive women’s title at the National Games.

The camp, run by Basque cultural organization Euskal Udalekuak, claimed to promote inclusivity and “body positivity,” but parents say their kids came home traumatized. Local police have since revealed that the camp was already being investigated for possible child sexual abuse for incidents dating as far back as 2021. Despite this, the organization was allowed to host its 2025 camp without any intervention.

It’s an extremely disturbing glimpse into what happens when ideology takes precedence over child safeguarding, and authorities turn a blind eye in the name of “tolerance.”

This week, the Vancouver Park Board found itself in a cauldron of trouble after trans activists discovered that Stanley Park is set to host the Harry Potter: Forbidden Forest Experience.

While the event is intended to be a family-friendly evening of magic, trans activists threatened protests and demanded the Park Board reconsider allowing it to take place. Why? Because J.K. Rowling believes women deserve single-sex spaces, sport, and protection. For that “sin”, no child should ever be allowed to enjoy Harry Potter ever again, apparently!

In a flurry of moral panic, the Park Board tearfully apologized for the “oversight,” officially “disavowed” Rowling (who, incidentally, hadn’t been invited), and assured the activists that the event would be one-and-done.

But Rowling, ever the queen of dry wit, responded to the debacle with grace. On X, she replied that she hadn’t realized the Vancouver Park Board had ever “avowed” her to begin with… but if they’d kindly send a certificate next time, she’d frame it, post a photo, then let them revoke it.

In the end, the Park Board invited international mockery for their performative pleading, and the only real casualty was whatever was left of Vancouver’s reputation.

This week, Reduxx exclusively broke the news that a convicted child sex offender in Australia was being allowed to serve his sentence in a women’s prison.

As previously reported by Reduxx, “Autumn Tulip Harper” sexually abused his own 5-year-old daughter repeatedly, yet was handed a lenient sentence as the courts took “transphobia” into consideration during sentencing.

This was a rather intense week in American politics as young conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was tragically assassinated while hosting a campus debate in Utah.

While Charlie’s views on most issues differed quite significantly from those of the Reduxx team, we were united on the matter of protecting women and children from the harms of gender ideology. Charlie was actually one of the first “big names” to offer his support to Reduxx, back when few knew we even existed. His words of encouragement and trust in our coverage was a massive morale boost for us. Charlie was also one of the few personalities who truly supported independent media and ensured he and his team always gave appropriate credit to our coverage when it was used… a rare show of etiquette in media infrequently offered to small, independent outlets like ours.

Our thoughts are with Charlie’s family during this difficult time, and also with those students of Utah Valley University who witnessed such a traumatic event.

Unsurprisingly, it appears Charlie’s killer may have been motivated (at least in part) by his support for “trans rights”, which simply goes to further demonstrate the harm inherent in gender ideology. Because it frames all criticism as a form of “violence”, gender ideology gives permission to its supporters to “defend” it by all means necessary.

And this is exactly why speaking the truth on its impact is more important than ever.

They cannot continue to suppress criticism using fear.

We apologize for the lack of a newsletter these past few weeks. Due to an illness on the team, we had to take a short hiatus on Instagram and Substack. But we are back in action, and has it ever been an eventful week to get caught up on.

One story we covered that has been going viral on social media comes out of Deerfield, Illinois, where a mother revealed that young girls at a local school were forced to get changed into their gym clothes in front of a trans-identified male student. Yes, forced.

According to the mother who spoke out - school staff was present to monitor the girls and ensure none left the locker rooms in protest, as the female students had previously expressed discomfort with getting undressed in front of a male.

The mother has now filed a civil rights complaint on behalf of her daughter, who was one of the minor girls subjected to this abusive display enforced “tolerance.”

This has certainly been an exciting week for women’s rights advocates in the United States, after President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order banning the transfer of trans-identified males to the federal female estate. This move effectively rolled back a Biden-era policy which prioritized housing federal trans-identified male inmates based on their identity preference.

While this is a massive win for federal female inmates, it is worth remembering that this does not apply to the thousands of men housed in women’s prisons at the state level. We know it’s only week 1 of the new administration, but let’s hope there is something coming down the pipes that would put pressure on state authorities to make the right choice and remove men from women’s prisons across the country once and for all.

In many states, violent and pedophilic trans-identified males are being housed alongside vulnerable women, and rapes have been reported.

We must never forget about incarcerated women and the incredible toll gender ideology has taken on their safety and dignity.

This week, Reduxx reported on a truly disturbing case out of Australia that has avoided detection (or should we say interest) from the mainstream press. The case involved a trans-identified male who was handed a steeply lenient sentence after sexually abusing his own 5-year-old daughter.

In court, a forensic psychiatrist characterized Autumn Tulip Harper, 25, as a distraught “mother” seeking gender validation from other pedophiles by subjecting his daughter to abuse. Other mitigating factors included transphobia, homophobia, and the pedophile’s assurance he would never do it again. As a result of the absurd hearings, Harper was given just 4 years and 9 months in prison, and will be eligible for parole in less than 3 years.

This case was originally brought to our attention in July of 2024 by an individual associated with the case in a professional capacity. As a result of this whistleblower’s information, Reduxx was able to exclusively reveal the name of the name of the pedophile involved, even though the court record anonymized him.
