The Gemini New Moon

On Sunday, June 14th, we have a powerful New Moon in Gemini. While the moon will appear to be lightless in the sky, it is at its closest point to the Earth in its elliptical orbit, called a perigee moon. During this time, the moon’s gravity has a stronger hold on the Earth, causing higher tides and stronger pulls on the waters of our bodies.

New Moons are for planting seeds of intention. In Gemini, our intentions for connection, communication, and learning are at the forefront. Is there a writing project you’ve been meaning to begin? A skill you’ve been meaning to learn or teach? A community you’ve wanted to begin? A message you’ve been waiting to hone?

Ruled by Mercury, which is currently in the sign of Cancer, Sunday’s New Moon invites us to consider the relationship between our sensitivity and all things Gemini.

What I Can See in Charts

I will share very basic Human Design 101 at the beginning of the gathering. I don’t want to use the time to repeat anything you could easily Google or read in a book. I want to focus on specific gifts, talents, preferences, ways of connecting, and energetic frequencies that I see uniquely synthesized into your chart.

The Kinds of Questions I Don’t Answer

I don’t answer yes/no binary questions or questions of fate and timing. I think astrology could be better suited to that. Or certain psychics. I don’t prescribe that certain energy types get along better than others, because for me, that hasn’t been the case. I don’t believe there are better or worse charts, the way I don’t believe there are good and bad animals or languages. Just different beings serving different purposes. Each one uniquely contributing to the whole. I also don’t use the system to help with health, though some people do. That’s just not my area of expertise.

I LOVE reading about the archetypes hidden in our profile, the creative rhythm that resides in the circuitry, the greater themes in the quarters of the Incarnation Cross. I love talking about sensitivities, ambitions, proclivities, unique ways our minds think, and the unique ways we sense energy.

June is a month of great energetic potential. Cosmic energy supports our intuitive gifts waking up. Earth energy is also asking us to let it in through our feet and lower chakras. Of course, this comes with clearing and purifying what isn’t truly aligned. The greatest potential of the month is the clarity we have all been hoping for; what we may forget is exactly how much support is needed when we are clear on where we are going, but now have the responsibility to get there. Relationships change this month. They’re shifted in ways that benefit all. But parts of us aren’t ready, and feel the sadness of moving on and letting go. This month feels like great bolts of change and clarity, an opportunity to have the spiritual courage to do something about it, and remembering that our human bodies and nervous systems need time to grieve and catch up to all the spiritual change in the air.

You see the value in the two becoming one.

We are clearing imprints from childhood that have oriented us towards judgment. Judgment towards ourselves and others. Judgment that has prevented us from walking towards our true calling. Our inner child calls us to memories that remind us who we really are. Our potential. Our truth.

We are dismantling something in the world about what we believe we are worth, what we are ready to receive, what we are ready to let go, and our mind is ready to let go. It’s ready to notice which thought loops are done. It’s ready to offer itself rest and to leave the collective program of constant worry.

We are learning to renew ourselves, renew our waters. Our emotional dams are breaking in a good way. We are thawing. We are feeling more and more and more, and meanwhile, the world outside us is grappling with its denial. It’s resistance and what is being burned to the ground, whether we like it or not.

Cooler heads prevail this month. Rested hearts prevail this month. Quiet minds become agents of change. We are also learning that we CAN move forward. We can move forward even when we don’t quite know the full picture. We are all letting go of every rigid part of us. We are freeing our voices. We are allowing our bodies to change.

We are clearing our bodies and minds to make space for an energetic shift that allows us to feel reinvented entirely. We are detaching from the idea that our identity is static or that it is disloyal to change and grow. We spent time learning from nature, in nature, being nature.

We are allowing the codes of god in through the garden of life that is nature, that is change.

Today, May 22nd, Uranus, the planet of innovation, disruption, and shock, will meet with the Sun in Gemini for the first time in over eighty years.

I have a tendency to romanticize Uranus. I think this is because I am an Aquarius rising, and Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius. I am attuned to it. There’s something satisfying about seeing a pattern break or witnessing an anomaly.

I also have a more positive perspective on Uranus because Uranus is conjunct Jupiter (the planet of good luck, expansion, and optimism). For me, these two operate together, but that isn’t the case for everyone.

Uranus’s main goal is freedom.

For most of us, freedom is not something our nervous systems have learned to hold. And that’s not entirely “our fault,” but it is our responsibility to grow this capacity once we become aware of it.

Gemini is the sign of communication, pollination, and thinking. So when Uranus is in Gemini, the atmosphere is just right for bright and bold ideas, ones that breakthrough the ceiling of known reality. Ideas that are lightning. Ideas that ask us to reorganize our mental model of the world so we can evolve.

Uranus is a strange planet with a nearly 90-degree tilt that makes it appear to spin on its side. (No wonder it rules Aquarius, lol.) It has 13 faint rings and 28 small moons. It’s windy. It’s cold. It rotates in the opposite direction to most of the other planets (with the exception of Venus). It is also a planet of extremes because of its tilt. A year on Uranus is 84 Earth years, and for 21 of those Earth years, “the Sun shines directly over each pole, plunging the other half of the planet into a 21-year-long, dark winter.” (NASA)

The materialization of a planet tells us a lot about its energy. And this is a planet that says, I am unique. I am different. I learn through extremes.

When it joins with the Sun in Gemini, it is asking us to take the risk of disrupting our patterns. It is asking us to notice where we have been pretending we are free. It is asking us what we are willing to do to hold the illumination that is available to us. It is asking us to open our eyes, to articulate what we see, and to do it in a way that may surprise people, including ourselves.

A GENIUS CAN SOMETIMES BE ANNOYING

When I was in my early twenties, I loved The Flaming Lips’ album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Going to a Flaming Lips show felt like going to a birthday party for yourself, but also for the whole world.

I remember watching a documentary about The Flaming Lips many years ago and hearing stories about their frontman, Wayne Coyne. I can’t remember the details, but there were stories of how Wayne made things happen, no matter the strangeness of the idea or its inconvenience. He would show up at people’s houses late at night with a bullhorn, light things on fire on stage, that kind of thing. Throughout many decades of his hijinks, the band grew to the scale where he had a lot of production resources to make his strange visions happen.

He could have people dressed as animals dancing on stage, or running in giant plastic bubbles. When you went to a show run by Wayne Coyne, it was like being in a very loving circus. Being there made everyone feel like a kid again, in a music cultural space where people normally acted too cool, and rarely danced or moved their bodies. It was a good feeling to be at those shows. To see people singing and dancing and opening their hearts to a silly kind of freedom.

Before he was the singer in a successful band, he was just a persistent guy, showing up at friends’ doors with weird props because he had an idea and cared more about that idea than making sure to check in with their plans.

I remember watching that documentary thinking… I bet being his friend early on was super annoying.

Because the lightning strike idea thinks it’s the most important thing. It doesn’t have room to see the old reality. It believes so much in an idea that most people can’t see that it has to invest in it with its whole being. It has to see for us almost willing it into existence.

URANIAN LOVE HAS A DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE AND TIME SCALE

Uranus wants freedom at all costs, and it relates to freedom in a partially disembodied way. Uranus isn’t here to hold space for you or hug you. It’s here to show you that a bigger world exists than the one you’ve been seeing.

I’m not going to lie.

Where do I begin?

I have been facilitating a container called TIME STUDY since the end of January, and it’s been life-altering, gorgeous, and strange. Let me tell you what I’ve been experiencing and thinking about lately.

90 percent of the time that I create something that takes me out of my comfort zone, something in my external world intensifies, whether it is a collective experience. Sometimes it’s a political. Other times it’s personal, like a family member getting sick.

I don’t think one thing causes the other, but I do notice a pattern of correlation.

After all, everything is connected.

The magic, the terror, the grief, the anger, the abuse, the transformation, all of it is connected.

From everything I have studied, learned, and experimented with, this truth has been anchoring me time and time again: the shift we are undergoing personally and collectively is from the mind to the heart as the center of intelligence. The mind is primarily designed to want control over reality. The heart is primarily designed to connect to a vast kind of intelligence that harmonizes for the highest good of all.

So when our hearts start to open, you know what really gets loud?

The mind.

I know because I’ve been the mind personified when friends told me things that did not make sense to me intellectually. I remember how hard I rolled my eyes when my friend told me “time was moving faster because of the Schumann resonance,” which is the frequency of the earth’s electromagnetic field.

The irony.

But this skepticism and intellectual prowess are also part of my design.

How can I help anyone move from the mental perspective to the heart if I can’t speak their language or understand where they’re coming from? Like most people reading this, I’ve been indoctrinated by a mental framework of control; I live within one, and my lineage adapted to survive one.

Right now, we are in a collective move away from everything we were taught would keep us safe - our vigilance, our suspicion, our reliance on hard work, our academic credibility. To give up the things we were told would give us power and safety is incredibly scary when we don’t know what will replace them.

We are living through a time when people are afraid they will be replaced by machines. The positive side of this is that we are suddenly forced to discuss what it means to be sentient, and what it means to be conscious outside of our spiritual and scientific silos, and instead recognize that these questions, which have been asked and answered by ancient animistic cultures for millennia, are not just theoretical, but have real, embodied impact.

To ask what it means to be sentient, we have to ask what it means to be human. To ask what it means to be truly conscious, we need to be curious about the nature of Spirit, the nature of nature, the nature of the cosmos.

And the question becomes, not how do we protect ourselves from machines trying to take our jobs, but how did we get so identified with jobs as who we are in the first place?

I’m glad we are asking what it means to be human.

Somewhere along the way, we decentered this question in our socioeconomic systems and siloed it into academia. We let it stay, but we removed its inquiry from any true consequence.

When did we stop centering what is most important? When did we start devaluing what makes us human?

I recorded this back in December, and when I tapped into the energy of this year, there were a few clear themes that make more sense now that it's mid-January.

In 2026, there is a big call to:

• Make choices from the part of us that identifies as a vast, limitless being.

• To learn how to tolerate rest and regeneration in our nervous system.

• To honor what needs to be grieved and surrendered.

• How to perceive balance from a more helpful lens.

• Accepting that not everyone will see and understand what you are seeing.

• The importance of enchantment.

Nicole Adriana Casanova is a student of Maestro Manuel Rufino, a Taino Elder who founded the Golden Drum educational center in Brooklyn.

Nicole is a writer, poet, and storyteller, a 200 RYT Yoga Alliance certified Yoga and Meditation Teacher, a certified Reiki Master in the Usui and Karuna Reiki Riojo, a Shamanic Practitioner, a Human Movement teacher, and Magical Awakening Practitioner. The year-head transmission truly surprised me. All three stones had similar messages for us: psychic opening, psychic protection, opening our wisdom eye, spiritual activation, opening the higher mind, and reclaiming our magic. Every message I tapped into pointed to a year of magic, of breaking the limitations of normative perception, of awakening to our subtle senses, and creating in alignment with the most powerful part of us, the part of us that feels connected to All That Is.

A lot came through, so I broke the transmission into two parts.

The first part will focus on the three stone guides.
The second part will focus on messages from the tarot and will come in a week or so.

In between these two parts, you will receive the January 2026 Transmission.

There is a certain kind of tiredness in the collective psyche right now. It’s not just the average end-of-the-year panic, but more of a knowing that we are on the verge of an arrival.

There are obvious sociopolitical reasons to be exhausted right now. But what I want to focus on are the energetics beneath this moment, ones that may connect to what we are seeing on our world stage.

We are hearing the death rattle of an era. An era of screen addiction, of hyperfocus on creation for monetization and performance over connection, is dying - we are bored with the very stimuli we have been entrained to be addicted to (and yet still addicted.)

It feels like God/Source/The Universe is priming us to break with a reality that lacks sensuality, a reverence for the erotic, and prioritizes the hollow over the solid - out of sheer boredom. Is it Neptune in the last degree of Pisces showing us how tired we are of our own fantasies?

At the same time, optimizing, hacking, tracking, and designing for efficiency have reached the zenith of their usefulness; it seems that the more we treat ourselves like robots, the more we feel threatened by actual machines taking away what we hold so dear. Jobs are important because our socioeconomic construct forces them to be, but they are not who we are or the core of our identity. It fortifies the power structures that exist if we opt into the belief that we are our work, so it’s no wonder we have been hypnotized into believing that purpose = job.

I’m just as guilty of this as anyone. I’m writing this on a Sunday because I love what I do.

Right now, we are realizing that our identities don’t have to be enmeshed with our labor. An existential crisis looms as Artificial Intelligence points to a question that dominant culture would rather avoid: What is organic intelligence, and what is its value? And what does it mean to be human?

But there is an overarching narrative here, one that is easy to miss if you’re too zoomed into crisis or the oversimplified questions, like is AI good or bad? A wider context is available to us when we have the imaginal capacity to zoom out: Identity crises preclude transformation. When the old us is backed into a corner, finally tired of making arguments rooted in our knee-jerk tendency to defend staying the same, we finally become open to other paths.

Desperation can serve a purpose. Like the caterpillar surrendering to the process of dissolution, a moment comes when we need to let go to make space for a process that threatens all we know.

Why Things Are So Intense Right Now

We all have different coping mechanisms, and there’s a lot to cope with right now. As uncertainty starts to spread out into foundational parts of our lives- our jobs, our livelihoods, our creative pursuits and relationsihps… it is natural for extreme responses to emerge.

One extreme I’ve been seeing: Rigidly cling to logic and fact.

It makes sense to try to stabilize through the mind when the field is cluttered with nonsense and inaccuracies. Some of us are responding to this “post-truth” era by doubling down on the importance of institutions and traditions that hold cold, hard facts as the ultimate form of knowing.

There’s a lot of good to save in the rich history of scientific discovery and academia. And I do believe it is worthwhile to undo the distrust of scientific information caused by meme-ified science news, sensationalized headlines, and corrupted experiments paid for by corporations. But it’s also important to remember that prioritizing the mind over the body and dismissing intuition is a value system rooted in colonization.

The Other Extreme: Putting Intuition and Spirituality On An Unquestionable Pedestal

The other extreme response I’ve seen is to declare that we must trust intuition, mysticism, and feeling alone. That the only way to change a system corrupted by mental constructs is to cut ourselves off from the mind’s way of knowing completely.
