Join us for an evening of mahjong, history, drinks, and food.

Set in Historic Hudson Valley’s Georgian Revival library—built on land donated by the Rockefeller family—this event offers a unique backdrop to explore how a traditional Chinese game sparked an American phenomenon.

Whether you’re an experienced player or a complete beginner learning from expert instructors, you’ll settle in around the table with two drinks (beer, wine, cocktail, or non-alcoholic) and a buffet-style grazing spread.

Along the way, discover the story behind the tiles: how Joseph Park Babcock, a China-based representative for John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil, helped introduce mahjong to Western audiences, and how American women embraced the game to build community and social connection.
