Part 1 of this commentary has already been sent to Sean’s partner Melanie O'Reilly at her request. Much to her credit, she - along with Sean’s colleague Cynthia Sue Larson - has expressed a strong desire to continue supporting Foundations of Mind / Bionoetics. I’ve been relatively liberal with my use of CTMU terminology here, as my readers have been exposed to it and have the opportunity to post questions should they get lost. But as I doubt that most members of Foundations of Mind know the specialized vocabulary well enough to follow all of this without trouble, I may be touching it up here and there for clarification before sending it along as requested.

Introduction

The criteria for effective scientific communication have been changing. In the not so distant past, scientists were seemingly discovering new ideas and inventing seminal technologies by the hour, ingeniously changing the world for the better. Many financiers profited enormously by riding the waves of innovation. But then, as time passed and tech became more specialized and capital became more concentrated, the investors were replaced by corporate techno-farmers. This new breed, by raising vast sums with which to hire and coordinate the finest tech brainpower available, began creating closed product-plantations that turn years of intensively cultivated, jealously guarded in-house R&D into lucrative techno-junk to be marketed across the globe. As the billions rolled in, they used their limitless money to buy up the media, academia, the government, and anything else promising to enhance their power. Their goal, of course, was exactly the kind of technocratic oligarchy under which we now languish.

This is exactly what we no longer need. The techno-oligarchs have now shown us their hand, from 9-11 to Covid-19, mRNA pseudo-vaccines, Manchurian-candidate “Young Global Leaders” treasonously selling out their own countrymen to nefarious globalists, forever-wars in the Middle East, and skyrocketing hate crime due to exclusively nonwhite Third World mass migration to all and only White Western nations. They have unveiled the impending digitalization of the world economy, the vast high-maintenance pollution-generating server farms of their metastasizing data centers, and the “Great Reset”, a despotic plan to minutely control the burgeoning peasantry being pushed out of the high-dollar neofeudal economy.

Hounded and plundered by oligarchs flatulently propelled from one feeding frenzy to another by overindulgence of their swinish and often bizarre appetites, humanity now finds itself on the skids. The time has come for a new kind of theory … one that prioritizes meaning over fast gigabucks for the idle rich. It’s time for the CTMU.

It’s bad enough that such platforms, their owners, and their associates, mostly corrupt to the bone, belonged or aspired to belong to the Epstein / PayPal Mafia / Palantir crowd. It’s immeasurably worse when, instead of confessing their festering turpitude and begging forgiveness, such hypocrites add insult to injury by obstructing those who have committed no crime and spoken nothing but truth.

I should perhaps preface my opening comments with a sarcasm alert.

Here in north Missouri, we’ve already had a major snowfall - that was weeks ago, in fact - and a subzero night or two as well. How very strange that “anthropic global warming” has never managed to catch up with us here. And how fortunate, given that Santa would otherwise be sweltering on the roof in his thick warm clothes!

Winter storms tend to arrive here from the northwest. They sweep across the Rockies, roll down the eastern slopes, arrive in the Heartland, and can park themselves here for weeks. This, along with our distance from the coasts, has prevented us from noticing the elevated sea levels once predicted in order to encourage us to empty our piggy banks into the glittering bankster El Dorado of “carbon credits”.

What a shame, given the way monetary inflation has doubled our grocery prices over the last five years or so and thus enabled us to even more generously fund our sacred global imperatives. As globalist billionaires and trillionaires suffer terrible privation - carbon-belching megayachts and private jet airliners can’t run on empty fuel tanks, let alone host elites-only celebrations of Oligarchy Triumphant - our excess disposable income just sits there burning holes in our pockets.

It would be hard to imagine a worse and more shameful injustice! Yet not even the pungent clouds of digestive gas passed by the many cows in this area, about whose thermonuclear flatulence messianic environmentalist Bill(ionaire) Gates constantly raises the alarm, have dispelled the illusory effects of our weather.

And now, here’s another post that turned into a whole book. It started out as a deep explanation of why the CTMU is both necessary and incontrovertible, but this part of it was intended mainly for purposes of introduction.

I occasionally post on social media platforms like FB and X (formerly Twitter). When I do, I try to tell the truth about what’s happening and why. Unfortunately, my efforts are thankless. No matter how loudly one of these platforms claims to be upholding Truth, Freedom, and the American Way, it always turns out to be just another node in the global surveillance / censorship / control complex, all of which are seemingly run by comatose vegetables sprouting cancerously in beds of synthetic AI nanoparticles.

On Facebook, the CTMU group is limited to just over 6K members. (Anyone who doesn’t recognize that this relatively low number is inconsistent with my reputation and ability has a thing or two to learn.) On X, my “followers” - who sign up to be notified whenever I post on the site - consistently report that they never receive such notifications. Every week, a couple hundred followers are being subtracted from my account just like clockwork. That number seems to have just increased.

This never used to happen. Occasionally, bots were purged, but such purges were not like the steady, inexplicable bleed that suddenly began several months ago. I made inquiries about it but received no credible explanation; after all, social media users are mere data points who lack the standing to question corporate executives or even their lowliest flunkies. But in any case, someone employed by X must be responsible. (While one might argue that “the algorithm” is responsible, it is designed, written, tuned, and tweaked by X employees.)

Where could the responsibility come to rest? Let’s ask Grok.

GROK: “Key Personnel and Roles at X

“Nikita Bier: Joined X in July 2025 as the Head of Product, focusing on app growth, user engagement, and leveraging AI (Grok) for “hyper-relevant timelines”.

“Kylie McRoberts: A long-time X staffer, she took on the role of Head of Safety in April 2024, leading the team responsible for content moderation and safety policies.

“Elon Musk: The owner of X, who acquired the platform in October 2022, has been deeply involved in changing content moderation policies, favoring a “freedom of speech, not reach” approach and relying heavily on Community Notes for fact-checking.”

Nikita Bier is the “Head of product” at X (formerly Twitter), a role he took in July 2025. While his job description fails to include content moderation, his hiring or promotion is roughly when the above problems began to occur. Content moderation at X is primarily overseen by Kylie McRoberts, who was named “Head of Safety” in April 2024. (If you wonder whose safety, rest assured it’s not yours or mine.) In that position, she would obviously take direction from Bier due to his authority in matters of “content engagement”. That is, if Bier doesn’t like people engaging with your content because it departs from his opinions and those of his superiors in the X / Musk / nanny state hierarchy, then all he needs to do is tell McRoberts to get on the stick and throttle you into abject submission.

Elon Musk is a rather mysterious figure at X. Whether he actually controls any of the companies or piles of money on which he seems to roost is a matter of conjecture. Given the size and number of “his” companies, the height of “his” money pile, and his forgotten apprenticeship under WEF front man Klaus Schwab, the odds are that Elon too is a front-man who can’t even twitch without express permission. But according to the above blurb, he is “deeply involved in changing content moderation policies, favoring a ‘freedom of speech, not reach’ approach.” This makes him the most probable (identifiable) source of my misery.

Of course, Musk’s distinction between speech and reach is total nonsense given that X deliberately ties them together to control “content engagement”. Reach is just a shorter word for communication - the passage of information between senders and receivers, with “0 reach” meaning “0 communication” - and communication is really all that X legitimately has to offer. Any further restrictions on the social or political opinions to be communicated imply that X is not the medium of open communication it pretends to be (the great lie that every social media platform exploits prior to its IPO), but a tool for promoting groupthink and enforcing cognitive orthodoxy.

In short, if X is not a malignant fraud misrepresenting itself as a socially benign entity, then its proper function is to facilitate open, honest communication by providing users with as much “reach” as their content attracts while minding its own business regarding free (civil, non-threatening) speech.

As a consequence of the mendacious money-grubbing predation of this oligarchy, along with that of its rats, shills, wannabes, and useful idiots in government, industry, education, and the media, the world has been all but denied its best chance of survival: truth. Obviously, that’s because people of this ilk believe their personal fortunes to be vastly more important than the world or its survival, and truth is inconsistent with their priorities. (That’s not an exaggeration. That’s the truth.)

I used to think that everyone was basically good at heart, and that if I just got a little traction and attracted favorable attention for my work, it could attract resources for beneficial change. How naive of me! The trouble was, I’m not a liar or a sales huckster of the kind who baits investors with promises that I don’t know I can keep should the necessary resources not materialize, I worry about the possible ill effects of what I do, and I don’t supplicate to the world’s Rothschilds, Soroses, and Klaus Schwabs (such people instantly sniff out independence and individuality, excluding from the winner’s circle those who emit such offensive odors). Yet I opened my mind to the possibility that they’d accept my help in changing the world for the better, if only because they and their PR flacks never stop tooting their faux-philanthropic horns about “saving the world”. Unfortunately, I was sadly misled.

No, that simply wasn’t a good bet on my part. As it turned out, not one of them had the scientific, mathematical, or philosophical intuition and goodness of heart to roll out the meritocratic welcome mat. They simply weren’t up to it. They’d rather pack all those resources up their know-it-all tailpipes and shower hustlers and swindlers with capital for glitzy start-ups, data sponges, pump-and-dumps, and rug-pulls than share the limelight with anyone actually able to produce anything of real value to society. Even after I went through the obligatory media wringer and was publicized on news networks across the Western World, they saw nothing in it for them. So they focused on reshaping the information landscape using every lying, throttling, censoring, deplatforming, demonetizing, debanking trick in the book and sank their capital into sinister enterprises like Google, Palantir, and Neuralink … anything to help the enemies of truth deceive, surveil, and dehumanize the species.

But how silly could I have been? Fat-cat narcissism and self-absorption should have come as no surprise at all, as there is virtually no overlap between elite interests and the interests of the public. The wealth-and-power elite, being in close partnership with the deep state, inundate the public with misery like ruptured sewer mains at every available opportunity. In fact, they facilitate the urinary incontinence of other fools as well. I’m still badgered by anonymous atheist-materialist gadflies, billionaire fanboys / wannabe billionaires, and defamatory YouTube influencer-trolls who libel me with impunity and thumb their beaks at me because I’m overlooked by the bankster-funded, CIA-promoted Big Tech oligarchy and its sycophantic grooms of the stool, at whom I can no longer look without wanting to vomit.

But at least there’s a bright side, if we can call it that. Even on Facebook, where the soulless serial killers of truth have limited the CTMU Group to all of 6.1K members even after a decade, I occasionally hear good questions asked in what seems to be a spirit of honest inquiry. The questioners often betray confusion, but they’re better than any of the sullen, resentful academics who prefer to run for the shadows like sowbugs in a chicken pen at any mention of me, making “the little people” look bold by comparison. At least those who step forward with content-oriented questions aren’t self-promoting frauds and willful ignoramuses.

Just one theory, the CTMU, describes reality in this way, characterizing it as a self-generating, ontically and epistemically closed metaphysical metalanguage coupling physics to physical reality. Where physicalism is the idea that everything is physical or supervenes on the physical, no physicalistic theory of reality matches this feat. Such a physicalistic TOE would amount to a logically inconsistent category mistake.

Every other TOE candidate, whether it is called “physical” or “metaphysical”, employs extrinsic supervenience whether explicitly or not, invariably leading to problems. Yet one such candidate stands out for its uncommon, superficially CTMU-like structure. In particular, it puts the issue of supervenience front and center despite certain logical entailments seemingly unnoticed by most of its proponents. That theory is AdS/CFT, short for “Anti-de Sitter Space / Conformal Field Theory”.

We will therefore take a brief look at it, the better to relate it to the roughly contemporaneous CTMU.

Glancing at Sean’s email distribution, I found the names of various people not currently members of the group. They include a few relatively well-known thinkers. One of the names is Federico Faggin, one of three men credited with designing the first commercial microprocessor. Federico reportedly accomplished this feat while employed as an engineer at Fairchild Semiconductor circa 1968-1971.

Now ~84 years old, Faggin has come up with what he seems to think is a “new” theory of metaphysics for which he seems to be claiming exclusive credit. However, first- and third-party descriptions of this theory look very much like the CTMU. These include a description published by an organization, the Essentia Foundation, promoting Faggin’s “innovation” in order to contrast it with its own allegedly even better theory. Like Federico’s theory, it seems to be an attempted CTMU knock-off reminiscent of an all-inclusive New Age catchall or two. CTMU lookalikes are sprouting like weeds, and already the weeds are splitting hairs to see which CTMU knock-off should take the prize!

In 2023, as part of his 2021 book Silicon, Faggin wrote an essay on “The primordial quantum language”. It seems he had realized that the universe consists of a universal substance he decided to name “nousym”, a portmanteau of nous (Greek for “higher mind”) and symbol. “Nousym is a holistic and dynamic substance with extraordinary properties,” wrote Faggin. “It is the ‘stuff’ that manifests in our classical world as the matter-energy of physics. Like Russian dolls, there are virtual realities inside virtual realities, but it is nousym that contains your conscious experiences of all those dolls and the quantum information out of which all those dolls are physically made.”

As all of us know who know anything about the CTMU, it has spent its entire life as a language of classical and quantum reality based on telic monism, which says that the universe consists of a universal protean “metasubstance” accounting for not only the composition of reality, but also the properties of reality including both mind and physical phenomena. The CTMU names and supports these properties from the ground up and the top down as no other theory could possibly do. Yet here I stand, out in the cold with my nose pressed against the Acadummies-R-Us shop window like a Good-Will-Hunting version of Oliver Twist!

Every time I write something, I now have to talk myself into releasing it. This owes to my well-founded suspicion that all I’m doing is rewarding plagiarists with ideas for which to falsely take credit. This is the inevitable result when creepy vampiric billionaires and agency spooks, in their efforts to sculpt the information landscape, make it impossible for their competition to be heard or credited. If you’re relatively mediocre, then you’re safe; if you’re not worth their trouble, they won’t slam the gate on you. Plenty of other mediocrities would be saying what you’re saying anyway.

But if you have anything of real value upstairs, then you must either chain yourself to the control grid or be roasted on it and anonymously served up to any billionaire or trillionaire wannabe who wants a piece.

It’s all about “social justice”, you see. Spreading the wealth.

Though we be envied and resented in every corner of the globe, no other nation has the standing to question our existence and legitimacy, deny our European origin and colonial history, threaten and excoriate our traditional population, subject us to mass Third World invasion and demographic conquest, or oppose our determination to preserve human freedom, human dignity, and the future of mankind.

And now, back to our “Theory of Everything” discussion.

Introduction

In the last post, we discussed category mistakes and the not-even-wrong “physical theories of everything” based on them. Such theories are “not even wrong” because although physics and the physical universe are real, they are not self-explanatory, and this makes physics unsuitable as a TOE. Specifically, it fails to explain, or justify, the aspect of reality called “physics”.

We saw that because “everything” and “physical” are not synonymous, the assumption that “everything is physical” is a contradiction. Theories based on contradictions are not only unfounded, but wrong and gravely misleading. In fact, a true theory of everything can be comprehensively and consistently formulated only in a metaphysical metalanguage of physics spanning both physical theory and its physical universe of discourse. Metaphysics, properly formulated as the CTMU, is simply the metalanguage which describes how physics and the physical universe are related to each other.

Remember, physical means observable, and physics is an object language in which the physical universe, its object of reference, is theoretically described in terms of physical states and observable quantum properties or observables, linear operators associated with CTMU identity operators or “quantum observers” operating on the states.

In the CTMU, physics and the physical universe are related through “metaformal quantization”, a mereology under which reality is effectively defined to not just contain observers, but to consist of generic observers as components.

But the situation is not so one-sided after all. For even though scientists have been trying to expand their horizons by tackling what have always been seen as inherently philosophical problems, they face insuperable difficulties in such endeavors. Perhaps their worst disadvantages are missing conceptual foundations and the inadequacy of empirical and/or axiomatic methodology to address the true fundamentals of reality, and their resulting lack of support for their increasingly ambitious and far-reaching speculations. In consequence of these difficulties, they often find themselves spinning their wheels with no more traction than the philosophers.

Some readers are no doubt familiar with Paul John Werbos, the social scientist, statistician, and machine learning pioneer who discovered backpropagation and published the discovery in his 1974 Harvard dissertation Beyond Regression: New Tools for Prediction and Analysis in the Behavioral Sciences. Although it may have slipped his memory, he and I have conversed on a couple of previous occasions in discussions by the Foundations of Mind Group.

Backpropagation, short for "backward propagation of errors" and important in what is now called "deep learning", is a method for training neural networks. It adjusts network weights and biases to reduce discrepancies between actual and predicted output, thus reducing the loss function and enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of computational models (often with the help of optimization algorithms).

In the past, Paul has expressed enthusiasm for stochastic processes and methods, the model-theoretic utility of which relates to our recent installment on randomness in the Modern Synthesis. But we’ll revisit that discussion later.

My Response: Actually, it has been found that the DNA of sub-Saharan Blacks is up to around 20 percent non-human (pre-Homo sapiens). Specifically, Blacks have been found to have large amounts of "ghost DNA" from one or more pre-human species that once lived in Africa alongside more recently evolved human beings ... species that may have included Homo erectus or Homo habilis, which were far more primitive than the relatively advanced Homo neanderthalensis.

The brain of a typical Neanderthal was even larger than that of a typical modern human, and Neanderthal DNA accounts for only around 2 percent of the White and Asian genomes (on average, Asians have a bit more than Whites). Like it or not, Blacks have no room whatsoever to describe any other race of humans as an "inferior" or less evolved "species".

In fact, it seems that much to the credit of non-Blacks, they have considerately avoided hurting the feelings of Blacks over recent findings about African genetics.

True, I once wrote a brief essay on the irrationality of high-tech Western societies hosting civilization-maladapted low-IQ populations better suited to more primitive environments and social orders. Christmas is not just a commercial event or an occasion for family togetherness, but a Christian holiday. Thus, although it may seem out of the holiday spirit, at least some of our attention should be on history and current events as they impact Christianity. Please bear in mind that I fully acknowledge the distinction between peaceful, non-radicalized Muslims and the militant Islamic radicals discussed below.

In the early 8th century, from approximately 711 to the 720s, Muslims invaded and conquered the Iberian Peninsula of Europe in the Umayyad Conquest. Under the Arab-Moorish Umayyad dynasty, Southwestern Europe was annexed by the Arab-Islamic Empire, and Muslim rule displaced Christian rule in the Visigothic Kingdom of Hispania, renamed "al-Andalus".

Yesterday, my wife and I were discussing a grave and far-reaching problem: the erosion of moral fiber throughout the Western World. Later, having indulged one of her hobbies and reviewed some family genealogy, she remarked that we're both descended from the lines of King Alfonso I of Portugal, who was my great grandfather and her great uncle (not to be confused with another CL relative, King Alfonso I of Asturias, who had previously waged war against the Moors).

Alfonso was the first king of Portugal and instrumental in opposing the Muslim invasion of Iberia. In 1143, he swore to drive the Moors off the Iberian Peninsula. He and his men fought bravely and tenaciously, reclaiming Santarém and Lisbon in 1147 and establishing control of key territory bordering the Tagus River. Unfortunately there were subsequent reversals, but these too were later reversed. Over the next millennium, Muslim invaders - not just those of the Umayyad Caliphate, but those of the Ottoman Empire - would go on to commit countless atrocities, murdering and enslaving Europeans by the millions.

Fortunately for all of us, Europe was eventually saved. Achievements similar to those of Alfonso I are attributed to European great grandfathers including Charles Martel, Charlemagne, El Cid, the Kings of Jerusalem, and other Crusaders. Our forebears fought all the way to victory in order to redeem Europe from Islamic invasion, free Europeans persecuted by Islamic slavers, avenge the murder and enslavement of countless Christians, guide Europe to the very pinnacle of civilization, and win back the rightful destiny of European races and cultures.

But there has been another turnaround. For decades now, highly unpopular, non-democratically mandated mass migration from Africa and the Middle East has been tearing Europe apart. Crime and terrorism have skyrocketed, and many beautiful and historically significant European churches and cathedrals, including the iconic Cathedral of Notre Dame in 2019, have been severely damaged or destroyed by arson and vandalism. Meanwhile, a sizable percentage of Muslim migrants, some religiously indoctrinated toward resentment and violence against non-Muslims, grow increasingly disgruntled over the "unfair treatment" they imagine themselves to have received from the hereditary Europeans who have generously accepted them as guests.

A recent example will suffice. Several days ago, a homicidal maniac used his vehicle to slash a trail of injury and death through a bustling market in Magdeburg, Germany, injuring 200 people (41 of them critically) and immediately killing a nine-year-old child and four adults. For over a quarter of a mile, the murderer - Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, a Saudi Arabian criminal masquerading as a responsible psychiatrist - gleefully pretended that he was a contestant in a one-car demolition derby, targeting every human being in his path.

Taleb, who looks like a typical Saudi Muslim, claims to be apostate (and thus a target for grave harm by the faithful were he still in Saudi Arabia), but nevertheless does his bit for Islam by helping Saudis apply for refugee status in Europe, teaching them how to work the system and max out their benefits. One might therefore expect gratitude from him, but hatred is all he could muster. “Revenge will come soon,” he had promised several days before the slaughter. "Even if it costs me my life, I will make the German nation pay the price of the crimes committed by its government against Saudi refugees (a mere 70% of whom are admitted).” Meanwhile, he recommended Europe's legal prostitution industry to his fellow "victims", members of an invasive slave-culture that had preyed on Europeans for centuries.

Religious leaders and heads of state reacted by issuing a warning: they warned Germans against “hate.” Yet the Saudi government had issued an earlier warning: they had explicitly warned Germany that Taleb was dangerous. Instead of acting on this warning, a German police agency justified its politically correct inaction by saying that although Taleb had interacted with authorities, insulted them, and made explicit threats, he was “not known for violent acts”.

Meanwhile, German legislators, blaming the victims as always, set out to ban the AfD (Alternative for Deutschland) party, the second most popular in the country, as Germany's paramount "threat to democracy". In short, they identified the real problem as politically conservative White Germans of Christian heritage.

Naturally, an international “pity party” was convened. But in a nation that has had its neck continuously stepped on since the end of WWII (as it did after WWI), there was little consolation for the victims and their families. Lest official commiseration give people the wrong idea, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz hastened to remind the public that sympathy has its limits, admonishing citizens that “We should not allow those who wish to sow hate to do so!”

The pity party suffered no lack of high-placed attendees. “The inhumane attack in Magdeburg leaves us stunned,” lamented a German conference of bishops. Pope Francis concurred, compassionately expressing his sympathies. Not to be outdone, EU yes-man Emmanuel Macron expressed his “profound shock”. The official outpouring of faux sympathy quickly became suggestive of a network news broadcast in which talking heads parrot each other as though reading from a single script.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson: "My thoughts are with the victims and their families!”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer: “My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected!”

Et cetera. But in reality, political expedience was the word of the day. In fact, the thoughts of hypocritical Western leaders were where they always are: on grabbing sound bites and photo opportunities and telling the people what the oligarchy wants them to hear, namely, that they must passively accept even the worst carnage at the hands, knives, machetes, bombs, and motorized vehicles of invasive foreigners.

Obviously, the real message is that the leaders of historically Christian nations are shameless sellouts and atrocious hypocrites who are not really on the side of Christianity or their native citizens at all. As long as they can collect their blood money and count on “reelection” (re-installation), they care not a whit for the safety or sanctity of Christianity, Christians, or Christmas.

It is time to remember Alfonso I, El Cid, Charles Martel, Charlemagne, and other heroes who spilled their blood, our blood, on European soil for the sake of Western Civilization. We live on ground bought, paid for, and sanctified by the lifeblood of our Christian ancestors, and owe our descendants the same debt that we owe our ancestors. Only by rekindling their indomitable spirit can we survive.

May we choose our New Year's resolutions accordingly, and remember to make the proper distinctions between radicalized and non-radicalized Muslims and other religionists. Again, best wishes to all!

I was pleased to note that Mr. Kuhn’s paper contains mention of the CTMU. To say that I was surprised would be an understatement. I appreciate this radical departure from standard operating procedure, and I think that Mr. Kuhn’s paper deserves mention in all of our forums … not just because the CTMU makes an appearance, but because few people are as intimately acquainted with so many interesting perspectives on our areas of interest.

Although it omits some theories and theorists for sheer lack of time and space, there is to my knowledge no survey quite as ambitious and thorough as Kuhn’s. If there is, I haven’t seen it. It is unparalleled for its lucid descriptions of diverse ideas relevant to consciousness, all brought together in one convenient place.

American schoolchildren are taught - or at any rate, used to be taught - that Thanksgiving is an American holiday which originated with the Pilgrims, who gave thanks to God and the American Indians who had helped them survive beyond their first cruel winter in the New World. In fact, our American Thanksgiving reflects a prior tradition dating back to (and arguably predating) Henry VIII and the English Reformation.

The Puritan English Separatists landing at Plymouth Rock in 1620 faced harsh and unfamiliar conditions. Half of them died during the first winter. Then the English-speaking Patuxet Indian Tisquantum, called “Squanto”, functioning as the Pilgrims' New World ambassador, convinced the local Wampanoag tribe to teach them how to fish, cultivate corn, and use other tools and tricks of survival. This was truly a cause for thanksgiving, as it saved the Pilgrims from doom.

The first Thanksgiving lasted three days and led to many years of peace, setting the precedent for annual celebrations that have refueled the faith, gratitude, and courage of later generations of Americans all the way to the present. But what of the present itself, with America in the throes of turmoil, despair, and cultural disintegration?

Thanksgiving now takes on a whole new meaning. Ironically, we now have even more to celebrate than did our European ancestors.

First, we still have the courage and independence of the first American colonists from England, who used their church-covenant style of organization as an autonomous, self-reliant model for civil government. This model was adopted by other New England colonies, ultimately leading to the U.S. Declaration of Independence, American Revolution, and United States Constitution.

In addition, we have a tremendous opportunity for rebirth and renewal. Instead of being torn apart and erased from history by the parasitically divergent enemies of freedom, decency, and the American way of life, we now have an opportunity to move the founding principles of our great nation into the future, uniting the faith and dignity of the Pilgrims with a newfound understanding of God, man, and (equivalently) the deep structure of reality.

This is the last such opportunity we are likely to receive, making it all the more worthy of our gratitude. May we steel ourselves to do what has become necessary, and thus earn the renewal that God has generously placed within our reach.

Our undying thanks to God Almighty. We pray that it be shared in good faith by all good-hearted Americans. Let God be praised forever.
