welcome to big feelings. i’m so glad you’re here!

i’m sarah. i live with my two cats, luna and prudence (named for their predecessor, penny lane, as one does in the jewish faith!), on the lower east side of new york city in a pre-war apartment i gut-renovated nearly a decade ago. i write big feelings—a weekly newsletter about the feelings we’ve been taught to keep quiet.

think:

feelings about body image.

feelings about work and self worth.

feelings about family, and friendship.

feelings about the world we live in, and how we can move through it with kindness and grace.

here’s what you can expect as a subscriber:

every saturday (or sunday!), i send a two-part newsletter.

the first is a personal essay. sometimes, it’s just a recap of my week—where i’ve been, who i’ve seen, what i’ve been doing. other times, it’s a heftier essay about something that’s been eating at me: my career. my weight. my love life (or lack thereof). i write about dating and relationships, body image and self worth, friendships and work and the particular grief of letting go of the way life should be so that you can embrace what is.

the second part is five recommendations:

  • what i’m listening to (a podcast)

  • what i’m reading (a book)

  • what i’m watching (a show or sometimes a movie)

  • what i’m cooking (a recipe)

  • what i’m buying (a shopping rec!)

my recs = things i genuinely love. things i think you might love, too.

i’ve been writing since 2021, so the archive is a healthy one—effectively a personal encyclopedia of very good things, organized by category, waiting for the exact moment when you need them.

got questions? got feels?

leave a comment. i read every one, and do my very best to reply to most. if a comment feels too public, you can always email me, too, at thegrandapt@gmail.com.

thanks so much for being here. i’m thrilled to have you!
