This is yet another major astrological shift to pay attention to, as it will open up a new year-long focus in each of our lives. The good news is if this is your natal Jupiter placement, you will enter your Jupiter Return. If you have your Jupiter in a fellow fire sign, this will also be the highly supportive Jupiter trine. Any planets you have in Fire or Air signs will also receive a helpful boost from Jupiter at some point in the coming year.

I want to start this post by reminding you that in order to reap the benefits of Jupiter, we have to actually do the things that Leo wants. Leo is a Fixed Fire sign. It is ruled by the Sun. It is warm, generous, heart-lead, playful, passionate, and creative. Leo wants to highlight the ego, our individuality, and all of the things that make us unique. Leo looks to stand out from the crowd, to be a leader, a problem solver, and wants to be acknowledged for how special it is, too. Leo rules over the hair, children, and sex. In order to for us to beseech Jupiter’s favor, we must embody and uplift these Leonine qualities in ourselves. This is a moment to highlight our individuality, creativity and self-expression, fun, joy, play, and our burning hearts. We must be bold, energetic, generous, and let our inner child shine.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. Perhaps there are issues around childcare, children’s rights, and so on. If Jupiter in Cancer brought an abundance of pregnancy, Jupiter in Leo will thus bring an abundance of kids. Leo is also a maximalist when it comes to aesthetics, and Jupiter is a maximalist, period, so I have high hopes to see color return in a big way. This will be a big jump away from the beige-y trends we’ve seen in fashion and beauty, as monotony gives way to powerful expression. Hair in general will also be a big trend. In a literal sense, I expect to see big manes return. The saying “the higher

This month we experience two major astrological shifts with Jupiter entering Leo on the 29th, and Chiron entering Taurus on the 19th. I will be back to talk about that more later, but ultimately, this is Jupiter leaving its seat of exaltation in Cancer, and opening up a brand new year-long cycle for each of us in Leo. The vibes are obviously quite different here. Where Cancer is intuitive, emotional, protective, and nurturing, Leo is bold, confident, and creative. Whichever house in your chart contains Leo will experience a boon of expansion, opportunity, and luck over the coming year. Remember that Jupiter wants to expand whatever it touches, though we may not always be in control of what gets exaggerated. If you happen to have any Leo placements, they will also see support from the Greater Benefic. Note that our time with Jupiter in Leo without the presence of the South Node is short. At the end of next month, the Nodes will change signs, which will significantly influence our experience of Jupiter here.

Chiron will temporarily enter Taurus this month, which is definitely something to pay attention to. While it’s only in Taurus for about three months - re-entering Aries in the middle of September - much like what we experienced last year with the outer planets all entering their new signs for a spell, this ingress will give us a window into what Chiron has in store for us over the next 6ish years. Your Taurus house was just shaken up by Uranus for the past 7.5 years, and now Chiron will come in to do some more work. Ideally, this will offer us an opportunity to heal whatever chaos Uranus brought, but Chiron is not without its pain points.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. Mercury will have us reviewing the themes of our Cancer-ruled houses through most of July. I'm pleased to share that the astrology of this month is much easier than the astrology of April - which may have felt absolutely brutal with so many planets in Aries. Luckily, Uranus is freshly in Gemini, which means all of the outer planets are now officially in their new signs, and are now harmonizing with one another, creating a network of support and ease along the Fire/Air axis in your chart. As I've said plenty of times before, this is truly a brand new era in each of our lives. Nobody alive has seen these transits (or this combo) before. Your chart, and therefore life, are being activated in a way you haven't experienced at all. What new things will emerge for you now?

Book your reading for May and June

We kicked off this month with a Full Moon in Scorpio - the first Scorpio lunation WITHOUT the presence of Uranus in Taurus in seven years! How did it feel for you? May actually has three major lunations this year: the Full Moon we just had, a New Moon in the middle of the month, and another Full Moon on the very last day, making May a month book ended by Full Moons.

This month also hails our first retrograde after all of the planets being direct for a while. Pluto will station retrograde on May 6th at 5 degrees Aquarius - where it is now - meaning that Pluto won't cover any more ground fpr the rest of the year.

As always, transits are in Mountain Time. Pay attention to the ones in bold.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. discovered until March 13th, 1781 by William Herschel. It’s fitting that Uranus should be the first planet in this realm, following on the heels of Saturn, as in myth it’s actually Uranus (Ouranos in Greek mythology) who was the primordial god of the sky, and father to Saturn.

As the first of the outer planets, Uranus spends a much longer time transiting a sign than any of the other astral bodies covered thus far. Altogether, Uranus’ orbit around the Sun, and therefore through the zodiac, takes 84 years - meaning you can experience a Uranus Return if you live long enough - and spends about 7 years transiting a sign. Thanks to this longer stint in a sign, Uranus creates even larger “generations” than Saturn. We can see its electrifying influence in the way these respective groups choose to show up and push against the system.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. The hairs on your head stand on end, and you wait with bated breath for the crack of thunder and the skies to open up without warning. Where Saturn laid the foundation for rules and structures and things like the government, Uranus shows up to break them down. In many ways, Uranus is the great equalizer, seeking to dismantle outdated structures that, while reliable (or at least familiar), are no longer relevant. Uranus seeks to push the envelope and advance the conversation of humanity forward by creating structures that are more equal, fair, and accessible to all, as this planet is deeply focused on the greater, collective good - forever looking towards the future and centered around community.

On an individual level, we experience Uranus in sweeping, unexpected moments. The Uranian influence strikes like lightning when and where we least expect it, and seems to upend everything in one fell swoop. Whether this feels inspiring, shocking, or both, Uranian events completely change everything from one moment to the next, turning us on our heels and pushing us into the unknown faster than our mental faculties can keep up with. While, as an outer planet, we may not feel the influence of our natal Uranus placement in our everyday lives, the house that Uranus lives in is an area where we experience this upheaval time and again. As Uranus is the Visionary, our own personal Uranus placements can point to our inner genius, too.

Everything about this cosmic rebel is unconventional and avant garde. Uranus lives to break the rules: it balks at tradition and relishes in turning established society on its head. There is a shocking, daredevil aspect to this planet whose influence is obvious in someone who has a prominently placed Uranus and/or lots of Aquarian influence. These are the people who live three steps ahead of the rest of us. They are likely trendsetters and fashionistas who influence the collective idea of what is cool, though the

As the planet of sex, Mars is the most obvious placement to study when it comes to sextrology. The sign Mars sits in perhaps best represents our sexual style in its rawest form: this is where we will first look into potential turn ons and offs, as well as how we approach sex in general. Similarly to Venus, the position of Mars in the chart points to our wants, needs, and desires; it is our sexual appetite. Because of Mars’ association with drive, it also points to the hunt: how do we pursue these desires? How do we go after sex? How do we view sex? As a conquest? A soul-bonding experience? The giver of life, of warmth, who hails the arrival of each new day, the original timekeeper of our species. From the moment a modicum of consciousness sparked in early humanoids, our lives have been inextricably tied to the Sun. Literally the entirety of life on Earth, in all of its varying forms, is dependent upon this heavenly king.

As humans we have always revered the Sun. Many of the spiritual and religious practices we see through history were heliocentric, as the adoration and reverence of the Sun was one of the earliest forms of spiritual or religious expression, with many sects of belief having a Sun god, or just the actual Sun, as one of the main deities in their practice. In fact, many religious and spiritual groups identified the Sun as representative of the Divine Creator itself. The ancient Greeks, for example, had Helios, the harbinger of light as he rode in his chariot across the sky each day. The ancient Egyptians had Ra and Osiris, the Aztecs had Huitzilopochtli, in the East, the Hindus had Surya, the Persians had Mithras. The list goes on. As Manly P. Hall wrote in Secret Teachings of All Ages, “The primitive mind, recognizing the beneficent power of the solar orb, adored it as the proxy of the Supreme Deity.” We can see this influence through many of the temples, shrines, altars, and architecture of old, many of which still have ruins intact. Even in Catholicism we can see the belief of the Sun as the ultimate creator through the concept of the Three Suns as embraced by the old mystics. They are referred to as the “three lights” and are divided into the Spiritual Sun, who manifests the power of God the Father; the Intellectual Sun, said to embody the life of God the Son aka Jesus; and the Material Sun, which is the Holy Spirit and the vehicle of manifestation.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. Both of the equinoxes and solstices have held particular significance across many cultures. Even today in modern pagan practices we see the story of the Sun and its cycles as the centerpiece to the Wheel of the Year, with each of the celebrations directly linked to whatever phase of light we are moving into. We live and die by the Sun.

In Astrology, the Sun functions as the main luminary or identifying piece. Our Sun sign is what we think of when we tell people that we’re a Virgo, or a Scorpio, according to the date we were born. Truly, it is the part of ourselves we get to know first when undergoing the initiation into the exploration of Astrology.

The Sun represents the Self. It is the Ego: our identity, sense of confidence and self-worth, our most basic personality, and the core of who we are once everything else is stripped away. In Hellenistic Astrology, the Sun also represents our relationship with our father. Our Sun sign represents the zodiacal archetype and its corresponding values that we embody above all else, and therefore, to a certain extent, sets the tone for the rest of the chart. In many ways, it is the lens through which everything gets filtered. Just as the Sun is the center of our solar system, it is perhaps appropriate to think of the Sun as the conductor of our personal orchestra, or maybe the first chair; or perhaps the most powerful tonal piece that everything else revolves around and supports. The role of the Sun is simply to shine, and that’s exactly what we do in our Sun signs.

On a personal level, the house in our chart that contains the Sun is the area of our lives that our sense of self-worth or identity is tied up in.

Perhaps on a more evolved level, the Sun represents our Will and vitality, the creative life force we possess, our conscious mind, as well as our Higher Self and ultimately, our purpose. When speaking about the role of the Sun it’s important to understand that while our Sun sign is the zodiacal archetype of our identity, that doesn’t mean the energy of that sign is something that we’ve mastered, or that necessarily comes easy to us - although it might. The Sun is a journey in and of itself, and we are very often here to learn whatever traits the corresponding sign points to, and to develop that side of ourselves. We are acting out the Divine Comedy of our Sun sign each and every day.

The Sun is at home in the sign of Leo, who ultimately represents the Ego as well. Thanks to the archetype and journey of the Self, the Sun is exalted in Aries - meaning it essentially feels just as good and operates with just as much ease as it does when in Leo. As the Sun is literally self-centered, it’s easy to understand the natural correlations of those two signs.

The Sun spends roughly a month in each sign, making a full revolution through all twelve zodiacal signs in a year. In fact, astrological seasons are dictated exclusively by the Sun, whose ingress into each sign signals the beginning of a new season. As the Sun makes its way through each of the creatures of the zodiac, the Sun is believed to take on the mantle of each sign. Through the archetype of each sign, the Divine Light of the Sun takes on a different personification.

And so on.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. Beyond just sex, Mars is passion in all of its varying manifestations. It is the planet of vitality, assertion, action, boundaries, conflict, and anger —also important, and inevitable, aspects of relationships. The sign that Mars sits in also represents how we show up in conflict, how our anger expresses itself, and how and where we direct that energy. Everything about Mars is physical, visceral. Any and every Martian characteristic manifests itself through the body, one way or another.

Mars is both how we fuck and fight.

<a does tend to struggle here. Mars wants to be assertive and aggressive in its approach, Pisces is far too sensitive for all of that. While their empathy and understanding is their superpower, it can be detrimental when it comes time to stand up for themselves or take action.

This same subtle approach is taken when it comes to sex. While they are open to all forms of sexual expression, they definitely need a partner who is going to make the first move.

This eclipse is happening at 12 degrees Virgo, and is lead by Mercury, who is currently in detriment and fall in Pisces, as well as retrograde. This Mercury transit dominates the entirety of March, as it won’t station direct until the 20th, but leaves us traversing the post-retrograde shadow period until April 9th. Certainly, this is a month for review in order to find clarity around what needs to change.

The second fiddle of this month lies within the upcoming Aries transits, beginning on the 6th, with Venus’ ingress. For the foreseeable future, any planet in Aries will kick off their transit with a conjunction to Neptune and Saturn, who are still hanging out in the early degrees, and are very much still conjunct one another.

As always, transits in bold are the ones to pay extra attention to, and all times are in Mountain Time.

03/02 - Moon enters Virgo at 5:33am

Mars enters Pisces at 7:15am

03/03 - Total Lunar Eclipse at 12 degrees Virgo at 4:37am

03/04 - Venus in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus at 27 degrees

Moon enters Libra at 11:55am

03/05 - Sun in Pisces trine Jupiter Rx in Cancer at 15 degrees

03/06 - Venus enters Aries at 3:45am

Moon enters Scorpio at 9:01pm

03/07 - Mercury Cazimi at 16 degrees Pisces

Venus conjunct Neptune at 1 degree Aries

03/08 - Venus conjunct Saturn at 2 degrees Aries

Mercury Rx in Pisces trine Jupiter Rx in Cancer at 15 degrees

03/09 - Moon enters Sagittarius at 9:36am

03/10 - Venus in Aries sextile Pluto in Aquarius at 4 degrees

Jupiter stations direct at 15 degrees Cancer at 9:29pm

03/11 - Moon enters Capricorn at 10:07pm

03/13 - Mars conjunct the North Node in Pisces, sextile the South Node in Virgo at 8 degrees

03/14 - Moon enters Aquarius at 9:13am

03/15 - Mars conjunct Mercury Rx at 10 degrees Pisces

03/16 - Moon enters Pisces at 5:15pm

03/17 - Mercury Rx conjunct the North Node in Pisces, sextile the South Node in Virgo at 8 degrees

03/18 - New Moon at 28 degrees Pisces at 7:23pm

Venus in Aries square Jupiter in Cancer at 15 degrees

Sun in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus at 28 degrees

Moon enters Aries at 10:02pm

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. It's one we don't see very often, and it's one we only see 2-3 times in our lives, period. I know I keep talking about all these transits that are rare/huge/whatever, but it's really true for this year in particular.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. Neptune represents all that is ethereal, otherwordly, spiritual, and intangible. Saturn, on the other hand, is everything that is finite, tangible, structured, and follows a fixed set of rules. Whenever they come together, a certain duality exists - especially in those born with this dynamic in the chart - that we only see under this conjunction. On the one hand, this cosmic meet up is about making our dreams a reality. What are the systems and structures we need to put in place in order to make our creative visions into something real? Something tangible? Saturn and Neptune pose this question to us, and in turn, something totally unique and novel is birthed. Something we've never seen or done or thought of before is left in their wake. This is especially true for today's conjunction, as it is occurring at the first breath of the zodiac: 0 degrees Aries points to beginnings perhaps more than any other moment in astrology.

On the other hand, historically, any time Saturn and Neptune meet up we see events play out globally that bring forward themes of catastrophe and compassion. Historic floods, tsunamis, famine, and an outpouring of support in their wake.

Its most well-known association is with communication, and certainly, that is true of Mercury. Mercury is the main embodiment of the mind and communication, as well as our capacity to adapt and embrace variety. Generally speaking, Mercury represents our logic: it’s here that we can see our reasoning, thought patterns, and rationality. However, this fast moving planet also rules over things like commerce, transportation, short-term travel, learning, and magic. Most of Mercury’s domains concern our everyday, mundane lives: when we think about short-term travel we are referring to things such as commuting to a job, going to the grocery store, the bank, school, and any other errands we run in the day-to-day. Mercury also sees us constantly involved in communication, learning, manual dexterity and the motor functions, thought patterns, and the like. Because Mercury represents things in the short-term, these regions are often places that we visit only for a few days at a time, at least as far as vacations are concerned.

Beyond this, Mercury represents our logic: it’s here that we can see our reasoning, thought patterns, and rationality. The intellectual emphasis of this planet brings out our pragmatic side, too. In stark contrast to Lunar locations, Mercurial ones see our emotions taking a backseat in favor of practical objectivity. Because of its domain being the mental sphere, Mercury also has obvious connections to education and learning in general, specifically as the role of the student, making them great places to attend school, or take a class or workshop.

Mercury lines are busy, busy places for us as far as the global horoscope is concerned. As the planet of the mind, of communication, transportation, travel, and commerce, Mercury is always on the go, and, underneath a Mercury line, so are we. If you happen to live along one of these lines, you’ll find that you prefer the busyness as opposed to a more quiet lifestyle.

In general, they’re also pretty enjoyable places to be! We tend to have a happy-go-lucky attitude and feel stimulated by the environment around us. We’re also chatty as hell under the mercurial influence, seeking to connect with others and share our thoughts, experiences, and perspective as much as humanly possible.

Mercury ASC

Regions underneath the influence of Mercury on the Ascendant place an important emphasis on communication. As I stated in the beginning of this chapter, in general, Mercury grants us a happy-go-lucky disposition, and brings forward our desire to connect with others. Here, we become social butterflies and chatty, chatty, chatty. We feel inspired by our surroundings and have a desire to share our thoughts, perspectives, and the experiences we’re having in these locations.

More than any other Mercury lines, or any other lines for that matter, the dissemination of knowledge takes center stage. We are gripped by a constant urge to acquire new knowledge and search out intellectually challenging subjects. These are some of the best places in the global horoscope to attend school, learn a new language, or develop a skill that involves working with our hands - the other part of the body Mercury presides over. Indeed, our manual dexterity improves significantly in these regions.

Where Moon lines bring out our emotions, Mercury brings out our logic, as mentioned above. We benefit from a clear mind, analytical thinking, and are open to new ideas, suggestions, and approaches. Because emotions take a back seat, we are even-tempered and can easily share our point of view while remaining open to the perspectives and opinions of other people. In general communication runs an easy course and boosts our ability to share.

Especially on the Ascendant, Mercury speeds up our lifestyle, as well. You can expect to constantly be on the go here and for your day-to-day life to be a busy one. Because of this, trips to the Mercury Ascendant line are best served by a packed, yet flexible, schedule, as opposed to seeking a slow, relaxing time. For those of us who are typically homebodies, the desire to pack in as many varied experiences as possible may be surprising. While this may not be your typical preference, monotony is the kiss of death in these places. Note that the first house is also the house of joy for Mercury.

Want to know more about your own Mercury lines? Curious where the best place to find love is? The best place to buy a home? Book your own astrocartography reading!

Book Now

Determining the Quality of Your Mercury:

Because communication plays such an important role in our day-to-day lives, especially in the age of social media and information, I personally think visiting a Mercury line is essential. Open and honest communication is the foundation of all our connections, and yet is something we seem to struggle greatly with. The benefits of understanding your natal Mercury, and how you like to communicate, cannot be overstated, and this, of course, remains true in astrocartography.

Mercury is the first of the planets that holds the title of being at home in two signs: Gemini and Virgo. However, as I mentioned previously, Virgo holds the title of both domicile and exaltation - the only placement in astrology to do so. Therefore, I am of the opinion that those with Mercury in Virgo will likely enjoy their Mercury lines the most, with Gemini coming in close second. Conversely, Mercury is in detriment in two signs, as well: Sagittarius and Pisces, with the latter being both in detriment and fall. Again, the only placement in astrology to do so. While Mercury struggles to express itself in these two signs, and therefore will greatly influence your experience in Mercurial locations. Having first hand experience around all the things Mercury likes to do can help those who may struggle to organize their thoughts and speak up.

Any aspects involving Mercury will offer nuance around these lines, either helping or hindering regardless of sign. For those with Mercury conjunct the Sun, as an example, the vitality offered up by the main luminary will help to amplify the powers of the former.

Remember, too, that Gemini and Virgo risings have Mercury as their chart ruler. Mercurial locations will therefore feel natural, easy, and enjoyable, even if Mercury isn’t in domicile or exaltation.

When Should I Visit a Mercury Line?

Any time you need clarity

Preparing for an exam

When writing a book, an article, etc

Attending school, a workshop, a class, or any kind of learning environment

If you have a career as a writer, journalist, politician, or anything that requires lots of communication and the dissemination of ideas

During your Mercury return, or perhaps during a Mercury Retrograde transit to help ease its effects

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. Enjoy!!

As a reminder, I am hosting an astrocartography class next Friday, February 13th, at 6pm Mountain Time. In general, there’s quite a bit of BIG astrology happening this month, so there’s plenty to pay attention to:

Uranus stations direct on the 3rd. This is the last station Uranus will have in Taurus, so it’s definitely something to pay attention to. This stationing signals the final countdown to Uranus in Gemini, a change that will happen in late April, and will therefore signal yet another major chapter that is both closing and opening. Because it’s Uranus, there may be something shocking or surprising that happens around it going direct: a common phenomenon that we experience with all planets at their stationing.

February will also see us entering into our next Mercury Retrograde. (I know, I know.) This go around will happen in the sign of Pisces, which is both Mercury’s fall and detriment. The last Mercury Retrograde we had was in Sagittarius, Mercury’s other sign of detriment. Neither of these signs are really a great place for Mercury to be, but we might as well get comfortable here as Mercury is going to stay in Pisces for a looooong time. Mercury will enter Pisces on the 6th, and then just five days later on the 11th it will enter it’s pre-retrograde shadow, at which point we will start experiencing the effects of Mercury Rx, leading up to its actual station on the 25th. As always, the pre shadow period is your moment to gain a window into what your personal experience with Mercury Rx is going to be about.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Perhaps the biggest story of February lies within these last three transits. The first is Saturn entering Aries on the 13th. This ingress will see us kissing Saturn in Pisces goodbye for the next thirty years (basically) and opening up a new 2.5 year cycle in the first sign of the zodiac. As we’re already discussed, this is Saturn in the sign of its fall, and therefore an uncomfortable Saturn, but it’s also going to hangout with Neptune the entire time it’s in Aries. A point I’ll come back to later.

On the 17th, we enter Eclipse Season! This is a Solar Eclipse AKA a New Moon Eclipse, and it is the first eclipse happening in Aquarius, so it’s a pretty big deal. This eclipse will ultimately offer us each a window into what the Nodes in Leo and Aquarius are going to bring into our lives later this year. There is a seed that is being planted at this eclipse, which we will watch blossom and unfurl for the next six months. This eclipse is also lead by a freshly-in-Aries Saturn. Keep in mind that the two week gateway between eclipses is also weird as hell. Doubly so with the Mercury shadow and subsequent retrograde.

And finally, the great Saturn/Neptune conjunction is happening on the 20th at 0 degrees Aries. As I’ve already mentioned, this is a once-every-36-years transit, and is therefore ALSO something to pay great attention to. The meeting of these two planets signals a reset around their cycle, and ultimately signals the birth of PLENTY of new energy.

And now I present to you the transits of this month. The ones in bold are the ones to take note of, and all times are in Mountain Time.

02/01 - Full Moon at 13 degrees Leo at 3:09pm

02/02 - Mercury in Aquarius sextile Chiron in Aries at 23 degrees

Moon enters Virgo at 8:21pm

02/03 - Uranus stations direct at 27 degrees Uranus at 7:33pm

02/04 - Venus in Aquarius sextile Chiron in Aries at 23 degrees

02/05 - Moon enters Libra at 2:32am

Mercury in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus at 27 degrees

02/06 - Mercury enters Pisces at 3:48pm

02/07 - Moon enters Scorpio at 12:13pm

02/08 - Venus in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus at 27 degrees

02/10 - Moon enters Sagittarius at 12:21am

Venus enters Pisces at 3:18am

02/11 - Mercury Retrograde shadow beings at 8 degrees Pisces at 3:12pm

Sun in Aquarius sextile Chiron in Aries at 23 degrees

02/12 - Mercury conjunct the North Node in Pisces, sextile the South Node in Virgo at 9 degrees

Moon enters Capricorn at 12:44pm

02/13 - Saturn enters Aries at 5:11pm

02/14 - Moon enters Aquarius at 11:16pm - Eclipse Season begins

02/15 - Sun in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus at 27 degrees

02/16 - Mercury in Pisces trine Jupiter Rx in Cancer at 15 degrees

02/17 - Annual Solar Eclipse at 28 degrees Aquarius at 5:01am

Venus conjunct the North Node in Pisces, sextile the South Node in Virgo at 8 degrees

Moon enters Pisces at 7:09am

02/18 - Pisces Season begins

Sun enters Pisces at 8:51am

02/19 - Moon enters Aries at 12:39pm

02/20 - Saturn conjunct Neptune at 0 degrees Aries

02/21 - Moon enters Taurus at 4:30pm

02/22 - Mars in Aquarius sextile Chiron in Aries at 23 degrees

Venus in Pisces trine Jupiter Rx in Cancer at 15 degrees

.2/23 - Moon enters Gemini at 7:28pm

02/25 - Moon enters Cancer at 10:11pm

Mercury stations retrograde at 22 degrees Pisces at 11:48pm

02/27 - Sun conjunct the North Node in Pisces, sextile the South Node in Virgo at 8 degrees

Mars in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus at 27 degrees

Venus conjunct Mercury Rx at 22 degrees Pisces

02/28 - Moon enters Leo at 1:16am

A Tarot Practice for Neptune's Shift

As we are now in the final throes of Neptune in Pisces, and on the precipice of Neptune in Aries, today I am sharing a little tarot exercise all about Neptune from my book The Cosmic Symposium. This shift happens near the middle of the day, on the 26th, at 10:38am Mountain Time. At that time we close the book for good on a 14 year long cycle, and simultaneously open the door to a brand new, once-in-a-lifetime 14 year chapter.

Because Neptune takes so long to orbit the Sun - 184 years - and therefore move through the zodiac, there is a finality to Neptune transits that we only see with a few other astrological influences. This also means that we only do Neptune transits one time in our lives. At this point the bulk of the work of Neptune in Pisces is over. Whatever you have learned, done, experienced, is over. And you won’t revisit the themes of your Pisces house in the same way ever again. Also, once Neptune leaves Pisces, there will be clarity that comes in its wake.

Neptune, by nature, is difficult to pin down. It's the planet that rules over dreams, creativity, fantasy, glamour, as well as spirituality, illusions, delusions, and everything intangible. Because of this, the aura of Neptune is foggy and veiled. During its transits to our chart, the themes of the respective house can feeling confusing and bring difficulties when it comes to making decisions or finding understanding. We may have to revisit things over and over again until the truth or answer is actually found. For example, while in Pisces, Neptune has been transiting my 6th house of health. This has very much been a period of having to go to the doctor (or doctors) multiple times over several years until I finally get the correct diagnosis or piece of information I needed in order to manage whatever was going on with my health. It's definitely been a difficult time, and I will be glad to see this transit come to an end.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. On the flipside we experience a reimagining of the area(s) of our lives that Neptune is influencing. Again, while in my 6th, I started my astrology business! And have had a total overhaul around my daily routines and practices - also themes of this house. It may be helpful to reflect on your Pisces house now and spend some time unraveling how that area of your life has changed since 2011. Keep in mind that real clarity might not come until after Neptune has entered Aries, as well.

The energy of Neptune in Aries will be much different from the time Neptune spent hanging out in the sign it presides over. Where Pisces is a sign focused on humanity and the collective, Aries is the sign of the individual. Where Pisces embodies unconditional love for all creatures, Aries embodies self-love. Where Pisces dissolves, Aries initiates.

In many ways, this is the rebirth of Neptune. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, so this ingress signals Neptune completing an entire rotation through the zodiac, only to start fresh again. Between entering a new sign in general, entering the first sign of the zodiac, and the conjunction with Saturn in February, I cannot overstate just how new and fresh and major this shift is going to be.

Ultimately, Aries desires independence and autonomy. There is a strong focus on individualism, our own desires, wants, and needs, and the need to act on our impulses. Mars rules over Aries, and for the next 14 years, will be the planet that Neptune answers to, bringing forward the idea of force, anger, action, and separation as well. As I often say, Mars is the cosmic knife, helping us to sever or cut away. Everything material dissolves under Neptune, as well, so between the two I think we will see lots of separation or breaking away. This could be breaking away from dogmas, religions, etc, breaking free from illusions we’ve held, and/or breaking free from the collective in some way. There may also be a lack of seeing things clearly around our anger, confrontations with others, and/or a complete redefining of your sense of self. Any other themes that will become the central focus of this transit will depend entirely upon the house this is happening in. For example, in the 10th house, things around the career, your sense of purpose, and how you work with the public at large will also come into play.

and I filmed a YouTube video last year diving into what we expect to see Neptune in Aries bring forward. As one of the planets that can be observed with the naked eye, Mars is easy to pick out thanks to its light that shines in orange and red hues, in stark contrast to any of the other stars and planets in the cosmic fabric. Just like the rest of the Classical Planets, Mars is credited to first being “discovered” by Galileo in 1610, thanks to his handy telescope. However, Tycho Brahe, a Danish astronomer, is also credited with calculating the exact position of Mars back in 1576, while observations of Mars have been documented as far back as 4,000 years ago. According to Universe Today, “Nicolaus Copernicus is the first astronomer to postulate that Mars and a few other bodies known at the time were planets.”
<div understanding the physical makeup of the planet, as well as the theories that float around surrounding the possibility of inhabiting Mars in the future. More resources are dedicated to exploring Mars than any other celestial body in the Milky Way.

When considering the unique tonal vibration of Mars, especially alongside its signature red color, we cross over into a theory that corresponds color with sound. Similarly to sounds being created by vibrations, “light is actually a rate of vibration causing certain reactions upon the optic nerve,” as Manly P. Hall writes in The Secret Teachings of All Ages. Thus, the vibratory nature of both light and sound creates a distinct connection between the two. Unlike with sound, however, the human brain sees only one octave of color. “The sense of hearing has a much wider scope than that of sight, for whereas the ear can register from nine to eleven octaves of sound the eye is restricted to the cognition of but seven fundamental color tones,” writes Hall. According to the Law of the Octave, red, the lowest color tone on the musical scale, corresponds to the note do, the first note on the musical scale. Edwin D. Babbit expands upon this concept in The Principles of Light and Color saying, “C is at the bottom of the musical scale and made with the coarsest waves of air, so is red at the bottom of the chromatic scale and made with the coarsest waves of luminous ether.” The coarseness that Babbit speaks of is a poignant correlation to the nature of Mars, who represents the archetype of the warrior, sharing its namesake with the God of War.

Transmissions from the 12th House is a reader-supported publication. This is one line in astrocartography where your personal experience depends on your relationship to Mars energy. It also depends on the condition of Mars in your chart.

In astrology there is a theory that says, depending upon whether you have a day or night chart, one of the malefics is said to be on your team. In this case, if you have a night chart, meaning your Sun falls below the horizon, in houses 1-6 in your chart, Mars is the malefic on your team. If you have a day chart, meaning your Sun is above the horizon in houses 7-12, Mars is actually the most difficult planet in your chart. Again, depending upon the work you’ve done around Mars and/or your general personality, this may help to discern whether or not you’d really like to interact with Mars lines. There’s no right or wrong answer here, as long as it’s honest.

Now, when thinking about what Mars represents in astrology, we are dealing with themes surrounding action and assertion, physicality, conflict, aggression, and sex. Where Moon lines (which I've written about before) bring out the Feminine, or passive sides of us, Mars locations bring out the Masculine, or active principle.

Interested to know more?

You can register here.

Determining the Quality of Your Mars:

An important part of understanding what any line in your Astro map will be like, you have to take the to understand the condition of that planet. This is especially true, in my opinion, where malefics are concerned.

In this case, those with a night chart will naturally benefit more from Mars, as they experience more of the supportive energies of Mars, while those with a day chart have Mars as the most difficult planet in their natal chart. Again I don’t view this as meaning one should shy away from Mars regions - on the contrary, getting more in touch with Mars can be greatly beneficial - but it is something to be aware of.

Those with Mars in Aries or Scorpio will definitely enjoy the Martial influence, as their Mars placements will get a supercharge along these lines, as well as those with an exalted Mars in Capricorn. For those with Mars in detriment, in Libra or Taurus, or those with a fallen Mars in Cancer, these regions may feel harsher. Aries and Scorpio risings, who have Mars as a chart ruler, will also enjoy the benefits of a Mars line regardless of sign.

As far as aspects are concerned, I want to offer myself up as an example. I happen to have Mars in detriment in my own chart, however, I have a night chart, and was also born during a Mars Cazimi (a conjunction between Mars and the Sun, when Mars and the Sun are at the exact same degree) and I have Mars conjunct my Ascendant. I also happen to live underneath one of my Mars lines, and I really enjoy it. Personally I think living at a Mars line has really helped to curb the struggles I might experience otherwise with an exiled Mars. Instead of the passive (or passive aggressive) energy that is typical of my Mars placement, I embody the more natural qualities that Mars likes to have. This is just one example of many of the influence astrocartography can have in our lives.

Mars ASC

Mars on the Ascendant brings forward our ambition, drive, and ability to act. It is here that we become singularly-focused on our goals, with an incredible amount of vitality to draw upon in order to achieve them. These are places of great independence, self-assertion, and physical strength. We are full of courage, passion, and can be quite bold in the way we conduct ourselves. There is a desire to prove to ourselves, and to the world, just what we are capable of.

Still, despite our own capabilities, support around our goals may be hard to find. More than any other place within the global horoscope, Mars on the Ascendant will push us, time and again, to take charge of our own destiny.

In my own practice I love to use this line as an example of how one’s personality can affect our experience in astrocartography. For those of us who are naturally more independent, ambitious, and prefer to work alone and/or not have to wait around for others, this line is fantastic. But for those of us who are less bold, these conditions may end up feeling harsh, alienating, and unsupportive.

However, there is much to gain along this line, as we are shown just how much fortitude we really have. Because Mars is so physical, it’s super important to be active here. We need an outlet for all of that physicality, and if we don’t have it, that restless energy may come out sideways, and result in conflict with others. On the other hand, however, that physicality also manifests in our sexual energy. Indeed, Mars is the planet of sex, and the circumstances we find ourselves in under this line make sex an important issue! Because we are embodying the Martial archetype, our libido is strong and alive, and we should have no trouble attracting sexual partners!

Want to know more? Book a reading.

What to Try in the Bedroom Based on Your Birth Chart

Astrology is something that has always fascinated us.

Aubrey Houdeshell

Astrology is something that has always fascinated us. Horoscopes have popularly run in newspapers and magazines for decades, and is something people often turn to for advice on money, career, and, of course, relationships. In fact, the topics of love and sex are easily the things people want to know about most. How often have you had a friend wonder about the compatibility between their sign and someone they’re interested in? How often have you wondered?

While it’s true that the birth chart can reveal much about the dynamics between ourselves and our partner(s),did you know it can also tell you what you like in bed? That’s right! Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about your desires, kinks, turn ons and offs, how you pursue or like to be pursued, and how you express your sexuality are all sitting right there in your chart, thanks to a branch known as erotic astrology.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank"
