Ikki Kita, born Kita Terujiro in 1883 on Sado Island, Japan, was a political philosopher and activist who authored several books, including The Theory of Japan’s National Polity and Pure Socialism, first published in 1906 and now translated by us into English for the first time. Composed of five volumes, the book advanced a systematic and revolutionary political theory critical of kokutairon, or the ideology of the ruling Meiji government, blending Marxism/socialism, historical analysis, evolutionary theory, and imperial nationalism.

While its ideas are interesting on their own terms, they are best understood in the context of the Japanese history in which Kita lived and wrote, a dynamic period which had been preceded by major civilizational change. This article aims to provide this context.

This is an article version of a thread we did on Twitter/X, which you can find here.

On occasion you will see people pose questions like the following:

Unpopular Opinion: White nationalists will hate brownoids domestically while whining about the ethnic cleansing in Gaza. That’s hypocritical.

The end result is less brown people. So why is Israel cleansing the region a bad thing?

This is common and politically relevant enough that it’s worth extracting the best-faith formulation of this sentiment and looking to some of our books for the answer.

Firstly, let’s turn to You Gentiles, written by prominent Jewish author Maurice Samuel, and republished by us in a newly edited edition with an exclusive foreword by subject matter expert Dr. Kevin MacDonald. In the book, Samuel asks:

Is there any special significance in the distinction I have so long cherished—the distinction of “Jew-Gentile”—not to be found in the class of distinctions implied in “American-Foreigner” or “Englishman-Foreigner”?

While Samuel focuses on intra-European distinctions, we will see that his conclusions are more broadly applicable. His book examines the question from multiple angles, but two are perhaps most relevant here.

Samuel considers Gentiles a people defined spiritually by “sport,” and Jews by “seriousness.” What this means pragmatically is that Jews not only don’t understand, but look down on, a Gentile sense of honor, for example in war.

Murder (except in self-defense) is murder, whether committed in a duel, with all its gentlemanly rules, or in unrestrained rage… We cannot understand a man who, attacking another, insists that the other, in self-defense, shall strike only above the belt.

What this means in practice is chivalry and norms of war are impossible when fighting with Jews, for whom every struggle is existential. This is certainly the way Israel conducts itself – mass-scale collective punishment against civilians, sexually abusing POWs, the use of starvation, and more.

This philosophy of “total war” was finally introduced to Europe most prominently in World War II, and led to the defeat of nationalism and devastation of the continent by pro-Jewish powers.

An even clearer example of the Gentile-Jew divide in You Gentiles is revolutionary cosmopolitanism. Samuel argues that the most liberal, leftist, cosmopolitan, internationalist Gentile can only ever be imitating what the Jew is by nature.

He [the Jew] is the only true socialist and cosmopolitan—but in such a true and tacit sense that he is completely distinguished from all of you…. It is our very cosmopolitanism that gives us our national character. Because we are the only ones who are cosmopolitan by instinct rather than by argument….

He concludes that portion with the infamous words:

We Jews, we, the destroyers, will remain the destroyers forever. Nothing that you will do will meet our needs and demands.

This brings us to some very practical contemporary issues. There is no comparison between the internationalism of the Jews and the nationalism of the Palestinians – especially if we’re talking specifically about those Palestinians who are literally fighting to remain in Palestine.

If they end up elsewhere, it is directly due to Israel, which is all too happy to ship them off. Indeed, the state of Israel itself is involved in sending migrants into Europe, Samuel’s ancient enemy.

Similarly, in the US, there’s no Palestinian lobby pushing for war on behalf of a foreign nation, or for immigration and other unpopular domestic policies. However, there is most certainly a Jewish one, as any nationalist is well aware.

This issue was mentioned by Hitler as well, as recorded in one of the speeches in our book In His Own Words: The Essential Speeches of Adolf Hitler. Presciently, Hitler said of the possibility of a Jewish state in Palestine:

Thus, the goal of this Zionist state is nothing more than to pull the wool over the eyes of the unsuspecting. … The whole Zionist state will be nothing but an academy for their international schemes, and from there everything will be directed, and every Jew will receive, as it were, an immunity as a citizen…

Finally, we should also mention our book The Sword of Christ, also with a foreword by Dr. MacDonald and now in its third edition with a new preface by the author Giles Corey. That foreword is focused on the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the response from American so-called “Christian” Zionists.

Corey shines an excellent and necessary spotlight on the bloodthirsty nature of the Zionist project, and the tremendous hypocrisy of so-called “Christians” who support it. His book also explores the long history of Jewish hostility to Gentile civilization, going back to medieval Europe and to their modern role in promoting anti-social and degenerate policies in the West today.

The book also features a long and thorough section exposing the history of “Christian” Zionism, which we have summarized in another article.

In conclusion, why are White nationalists focused on Israel and not Hamas?

In short, it’s because we are WHITE nationalists, and so both focused on our own racial interests, and aligned with the White race’s intrinsic character and virtues.

• Israel is not Western, it is a Jewish state, and the Jews have a several thousand year history of antagonism toward European Gentiles, by their own admission

• Israel today is, as Hitler predicted, the hub of Jewish internationalism, which is of infinitely greater relevance to those seeking sovereign nationalism in Western nations than Palestinian nationalism

• Many White nationalists are rightfully put off by the unique barbarism displayed by the Jewish state, which is in line with Samuel’s diagnosis of the Jewish character and which matches far better with bronze age savagery than the civilizational and moral achievements of Europeans

• Similarly, to see a people fight with courage and distinction against overwhelming odds in defense of their homeland stirs something in many of us, even if they are not our people, and we do not wish to be domestic neighbors

• Lastly, if we ARE going to throw away any attempt at justifying nationalism on moral grounds and put up a pretense of total disregard for human life – why aim that at the Palestinians, and not their enemies? Whose interests does that serve?

The account we originally responded to called himself a “Christian colonizer” – what version of Christianity is this that calls for Israel to ethnically cleanse its enemies with their “mass death,” and implies that we can finish off any of Israel's enemies who escape?

All things considered, the original question could only presuppose a historic and racial unity between European Gentiles and Jews – which, as we have briefly shown here, could not possibly be further from the truth.

On 24 April, 1916, the Easter Rising against the British rule of Ireland began, primarily in Dublin. The Rising was an armed rebellion organized by the Irish Republican Brotherhood, and led by Irish nationalists including Padraic Pearse, James Connolly, Thomas Clarke, and Joseph Plunkett. The Rising ended with surrender to the British on 29 April after days of heavy fighting in Dublin. Most of the leaders, including Pearse, were executed.

Despite the military defeat of the Rising, it reinvigorated the philosophy of physical resistance to British rule and helped unify Ireland. Sinn Fein’s electoral victory in 1918, the 1919 Declaration of Independence, and the rise of the IRA all directly followed from the Rising in the following years, and it is widely considered a pivotal event in the history of the Irish struggle for independence.

Adolf Hitler was born April 20, 1889, in Braunau am Inn, Austria. The following passage is taken from our book Imperium of Thought: Writings of the Dutch SS, originally published to celebrate Hitler’s 55th birthday in 1944 (emphasis added).

“The value of all that is human lies in the value of personality,” says the Führer. Every idea and achievement stems from the creative drive of a single individual. This drive is, above all, what sets the great artist apart: the power to give form to what lives within him, to bring forth something never before created, to shape and master the material until a “living” work of art emerges—a work in which, as we say, he “lives.”

This element of creation is most evident in the artist, but it lives in all great minds. That’s why the Führer uses the painter to illustrate how profoundly creative work is tied to its creator. We place this idea at the forefront because the Führer, in this sense, is himself an artist—and his work must be understood in that light...

Let us pause to reflect on this. Within every great artist there exists a powerful compulsion—an inner necessity, a driving inspiration. He finds neither rest nor peace until his work reaches completion. Small-minded people cannot comprehend this.

The Führer, too, experiences this compulsion, this inspiration, this calling. But what is the work of art he is creating? When will it be completed? His work of art is Germany—it is Germania—it is the Reich itself.

Gold defeated steel, but no metal shines as bright as the stars. The stars shine their brightest while announcing the dawn, so if I had to name three stars, I would choose those of José Antonio, Codreanu, and León Degrelle, three stars for Europe.

This quote in memory of Degrelle is preserved in our book Léon Degrelle in Exile, 1945-1994 by Spanish historian José Luís Jerez Riesco, who met Degrelle personally. Jerez Riesco records:

On March 31st, 1994, Holy Thursday, at 11:10 p.m. at night, with echoes of the Passion procession made by the Malagueña Brotherhood on calle Larios wafting through the window of room number 225, next to the city’s cathedral, Léon Degrelle serenely gave up his soul to God. Like a warrior-monk, he was able to say, “Mission fulfilled, O Lord” or perhaps he was singing Non nobis Domine.

As a journalist, politician, SS warrior, author of numerous books, and post-war nationalist beacon, Degrelle was a lifelong activist for the cause of the European race. His life was filled with both adventure and trial, and his works such as The Burning Souls attest to the depth of his conviction and willingness to offer his whole life in service or sacrifice to his people.

May his memory inspire many more to walk in his footsteps.

"Return to the Land": a name that is also a manifesto, brilliant in its simple clarity. How did you guys start your adventure, and why?

Intentional community has always seemed like a good idea to me. When I first started making YouTube videos in 2012 I was already promoting building new communities in a more informed and intentional way as a means to address many of the cultural problems of the modern world. As I became more interested in the future of race in the US I started advocating a network of intentional communities as a workable solution for those Americans who want to preserve their European heritage in the context of a rapidly changing society. A little over two years ago the group that would become the co-founders of RTTL came together to help develop infrastructure for a small camp I was planning to host on land that I had in Missouri at the time. When that group first started chatting online there were already discussions around the possibility of several members buying land in the area and founding a small community. Ultimately that idea gained momentum and superseded our previous intentions. Peter Csere, our current secretary, proposed the bulk of the legal framework that we're now using and we all saw the potential in it. We toured the area looking for available real estate and ultimately found the site where Community 1 now stands.

You're in the process of establishing RTTL sites in multiple US states: how will you organize the various daily activities in each of them?

Return to the Land as an association is centered on shared values and heritage, aims to facilitate cultural activities for our members, and it's not very involved in the day to day activities of affiliated communities. It's a member driven organization and members in various parts of the country have different goals and diverse rules and regulations in mind for governing their own communities. RTTL helps these aspiring communities to establish a board of managers and corporate structure, but once formed a community is essentially self governing.

Return to the Land has been relentlessly targeted by criticism, threats, and even hostile legal proceedings, but you do not surrender. Can your brave and successful journey be seen as a decisive step in the fight to protect Euro-descendants' heritage and freedom of association in the United States?

We were aware that the nature of our community would generate push-back, not because we believe there's anything wrong with organizing your own community how you choose, but because so many people have been inculcated with an anti-White ideology. The fact that we're being attacked despite minding our own business in a rural area is exposing their deep-seated racial animus. We expected the left to attack us, but we also expect that ultimately their tactics will not play well with the American public at large. We believe that most Americans, after having a chance to digest the concept of an intentionally White community, will see that we're simply trying to carve out a safe place for our culture and way of life. This is an easy position to sympathize with, and our opposition's vitriol provides a stark contrast to the humble nature of our project. There is nothing more essential to the survival of our race and no fairer demand than communities of, by and for our own people. There's no rhetorical framing and no legal contest better suited to our needs in the early twenty-first than the fight for our freedom to simply live together in peace. Those actively planning to relocate into intentional communities as well as those who are part of the broader political struggle for the well being of European civilization would be well served by leaning into this issue over the more aggressive or more grandiose talking points.

In Europe, our common Fatherland plagued by mass immigration, mindless consumerism and a steady erosion of identity, several realities are being founded to do something very similar to what you're doing in the US. Do you have some suggestions for them, and for all of us Europeans who are resolute not to diverge from the way of our ancestors?

The several ethnic community organizations already founded in Europe have our full faith and support, and we've been in contact with some of them. Each nation will have to find solutions tailored to its own legal and political climate, but the basic first step of formally establishing private associations for our respective peoples has been universally helpful wherever it's been implemented. Return to the Land does have some European members and is glad to help connect people with appropriate local associations. We may one day get more directly involved in founding RTTL affiliated communities in Europe, but for now if we can help direct our members to existing groups like the Woodlander Initiative in Britain or the Free Sweden project we're happy to do so. Anyone in Europe with a similar project is welcome to reach out so that we can inform our European members of existing opportunities in the Old World.
